1.
JOSEPH F. BOUGHAN
Certified Public Accountant
Five Kurland Avenuc
Brockton, Massachusetts 02401
617 -, 586-0612
To The Honorable Board of. Selectmen
Town of Mashpee
Massachusetts
I have examined the financial statements listed in the index on the
preceding page of the accounts of the Town of Mashpee as of June 30, 1976,
and for the year then ended. My examination was made in accordance with generally
accepted auditing standards and accordingly included such tests of the
accounting records and such other auditing procedures as I considered necessary
in the circumstances.
The town's financial statements have been prepared on the basis of account—
ing and reporting practices prescribed by the Bureau of Accounts of the
Commonwealth of Massachusetts which practices differ, in some respects from
generally accepted accounting principles set forth in pronouncements of the
American Institute of Certified Public Accounts and the National Committee
on Governmental Accounting. The more significant differences relate to fund
account groupings, recording of fixed assets and the reporting of revenues
and expenditures. Accordingly, the statements do not present either financial
position or results of operations in conformity with generally accepted
accounting principles.
In my opinion the financial statements examined by me present fairly
the information contained therein in conformity with accounting and reporting
practices prescribed by the Department of Corporations and Taxation, Bureau of
Accounts of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts applied on a basis consistent
with that of the preceding year..
. January 14, 1977
