MINUTES June 15, 2000 8 BOARD OF HEALTH
a. Oak Hollow Condominiums
Ms. Warden stated that she inspected the swimming pool at Oak Hollow .
Condominiums and found that there was no outdoor shower as required. The
association has requested permission to put a pole with.a hose on it in order to
address this situation.
Mr. Doherty stated that this was an unacceptable alternative.
Mr. Santos motioned to require Oak Hollow Condominiums to install an
outdoor shower within 30-days in order for the pool to open. Mr. Doherty
seconded the motion. Motion passed.
b. Human Services (re-cap)
Further discussion took place regarding the Human Services Coordinator
position.
Mr. Doherty motioned to not authorize funds to be disbursed to someone who
doesn't report to the Board of Health. Mr. Santos seconded the motion. Motion
passed.
OLD BUSINESS
a. Solid Waste Responsibility- BOH/BOS
1. Mr. Ball stated that he has looked into hiring a police detail for the July 4u
holiday in order to avoid illegal dumping outside the transfer station gates and
to avoid additional bills by the contractor to clean up the area outside the gate
on July 5th.
Mr. Doherty motioned to hire a police detail for the July 4th holiday. Mr. Santos
seconded the motion. Motion passed.
2. Responsibility- Mr. Doherty stated that he would like to refer the
responsibility issue directly to the Attorney General. He further stated that he
has no intention of relinquishing any control of the transfer station operation.
Mr. Doherty stated that the Board of Health does not agree with the Selectmen's
position and does not intend to relinquish any control of the landfill or the
operational oversight of the transfer station. Should the Selectmen wish to
pursue this further the Board of Health feels that fair and sound advice would
not be obtainable from Town Counsel, because they obviously represent the
Board of Selectmen, and the Board of Health will go directly to the Attorney
General's office to resolve the matter. Further, the Board of Health will
continue to prepare expense warrants for all contractual amounts.
b. Meeting scheduled for tomorrow at 1:30 (BOH, Town Admin., R. Esper) to
discuss July 4th.
Due to the Board's decision to hire a police detail on the 4th of July, there is no
need for the meeting with Ray Esper and the Town Administrator.
