Mashpee Design Review Committee <br /> Minutes of Meeting Held Thursday,September 14,2006 <br /> Mashpee Town Hall Meeting Room 3 <br /> Committee Members Present: Thomas O'Hara,Lee Gurney,Robert Nelson,and Richard Stevens. <br /> Absent: Kathleen Eynon, and Mary LeBlanc <br /> Summary <br /> • Duck Pond—Sign not approved. Applicant will request 4X4 construction sign permit through Building Department. <br /> Thomas O'Hara,Chairman,called the meeting to order at 8:35 a.m. <br /> Siena <br /> Duck Pond LP <br /> 106 Falmouth Road/Route 28 <br /> Stuart Bornstein appeared and showed on site map where he wants to place a 4X4 sign that he referred to as a"directional-type"sign. <br /> He explained there is one sign on the property already but it is at the other entrance to the site. The sign he submitted for review was <br /> to be a double-sided sign with lights on bottom or maybe back lighted. Bob Nelson commented that under the building code it <br /> specifies only one freestanding sign on the property so that ultimately the ZBA would say"no". Bob added that under ZBA they <br /> would approve a 4X4 sign for construction purposes. Stuart Bornstein said they might go for a special variance and he noted that <br /> Mashpee Commons has a lot of signs. Lee Gurney commented that since Mr. Bornstein said they're not going to start until Spring, <br /> then why not just put up the 4X4 construction and then address the proposed"directional"signage later. Mr.Bornstein said he thinks <br /> that's what he is going to do. He'll hold off for Town Meeting to see what is done on the signage article proposed by Planning <br /> Department. Mr. Bornstein thanked Design Review Committee for meeting today to act on this and he then offered the following <br /> information: <br /> • They're going back to the Cape Cod Commission and then they'll start construction. <br /> • He will check with Lori, Secretary for ZBA, and if possible he will withdraw without prejudice his request before ZBA and <br /> then after Town Meeting will appear before the ZBA. <br /> Conclusion: Sign not approved. Applicant will request 4X4 construction sign permit through Building Department. <br /> Discussion <br /> 17 Cape Drive...The Committee reviewed with Richard Stevens the approved building plan for this site and noted that on the plan the <br /> back of the building had windows and a back door,but these were not included at the back of the finished building. After reviewing <br /> the approved plan and discussing that the builder changed building from that was approved, it was the consensus of the Committee <br /> that Richard Stevens should contact the builder and architect regarding the missing door at the back and that buildings must follow <br /> approved plans and if changes are needed after approved they are to appear before Design Review with requested changes. <br /> Resignation...It was noted for the record that Mary LeBlanc had e-mailed that she was notable to attend this meeting and that she was <br /> resigning from this Committee.
