ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE MINUTES <br /> MAY 14, 1996 <br /> Members present: Tom Potts, Paul Reynolds, Steve Innis , Sharon <br /> Koblinsky , Gloria Dube. <br /> Also present: Wayne Duchemin, EDC Coordinator <br /> The meeting was called to order at 7 : 00 p.m. in the upstairs <br /> meeting room of the Senior Center. <br /> The Minutes of April 23 , 1996 were accepted as presented. <br /> Rev. Cynthia Green has been approved by the Board of Selectmen <br /> to become an EDC alternate; Wayne will send her a letter. <br /> A letter from Michael Schmidt expressing interest in becoming <br /> an EDC alternate was received , and Tom Potts made a motion to <br /> recommened Michael Schmidt to the Board of Selectmen as an EDC <br /> alternate. Seconded by Sharon Koblinsky. Unanimous. Wayne <br /> suggested that EDC recommend to the Selectmen to close <br /> nominations, and it was agreed that EDC is full and satisfied <br /> with their membership of 5 members and 5 alternates. Wayne <br /> will prepare a letter to the Board of Selectmen from EDC <br /> recommending Mike Schmidt as an EDC alternate member and <br /> recommending nominations to EDC be closed. <br /> Paul distributed a brochure re: the Greater Washington Business <br /> Initiative. <br /> EDC discussed the status of the Employment Pool and whether <br /> to continue to promote this service in Town. It was decided <br /> to continue the service until June 30 , 1996 . Paul suggested <br /> that Wayne call the 99 Restaurant to inquire if they need <br /> employees and if they would be interested in hiring Mashpee <br /> residents from the Employment Pool . Wayne will follow up on <br /> this. <br /> Tom congratulated Paul for speaking at Town Meeting in support <br /> of EDC' s budget. The ED Coordinator position was retained and <br /> changed from a consultant to a town employee position. <br /> Tom opened discussion on how to spend the remainder in the FY96 <br /> budget. Tom stated money has been allocated for sign <br /> maintenance, and Tom will contact Grey Taylor of DPW. Wayne <br /> stated his contract of $9 ,000 will be spent by the end of FY96 . <br /> It was estimated that $1 , 000 - $1 , 500 is remaining in the FY96 <br /> budget. <br />
