Finance Committee <br /> April 25, 1990 <br /> Page 2. <br /> Tom stated that the the position was supposed to provide on-going administrative <br /> support and he didn't feel contractual services was the route to take. He <br /> also stressed that the could not cut the secretarial position citing that it <br /> was a union position and a cut would cause great personal hardship to the <br /> person in the position. Fudala asked the Committee to consider restoring <br /> $1,900 to his budget to make the Asst. Planner a 20-hour position with benefits <br /> or $5,000 to make it a 25-hour a week position giving benefits and retirement. <br /> Jim noted that it would really cost more because of the benefits package. <br /> Jim stressed the need to wait and see what happens with the debt exclusion; <br /> perhaps he could come before the Committee again on the 14th of May prior to <br /> consideration of the omnibus. Jim said at this time the Committee was not in <br /> a position to commit to anything. Tom was agreeable with this suggestion. <br /> Carole noted that a letter had been received from Senator Golden regarding <br /> the effects of cuts in local aid and a survey form needed to be completed. <br /> The survey requested specific information on the school budget. Tony agreed <br /> to address the survey and the impact of local aid cuts with Dr. Demoura. <br /> The Finance Committee at their meeting of April 10th had refained from <br /> recommendations on several articles on the Special and Annual Town Meeting <br /> Warrants till cost had been determined. The Executive Secretary provided the <br /> Committee with updated warrants which included dollar amounts. Kevin <br /> requested the _Committee advise him by the 26th of April if there were any <br /> errors in the Recommendations noted on the Warrants or changes in recommendations. <br /> Member Vaccaro stated he would contact the Executive Secretary. <br /> The Committee reviewed the Special Warrant and agreed to make recommendations <br /> on the following articles . <br /> SPECIAL TOWN MEETING WARRANT <br /> Article 15 - Vern motioned that the Committee recommend, seconded by John <br /> Ferriday, there was unanimous approval <br /> Article 16 - Vern motioned that the Committee recommend, seconded by Jim <br /> Vaccaro, there was unanimous approval <br /> Article 17 - Carl Heller motioned that the Committee recommend, seconded by <br /> John Ferriday, there was unanimous approval <br /> Article 19 - Vern Polka motioned that the Committee recommend the $650, <br /> seconded by John Ferriday, motion carried with one opposing vote <br /> by Vaccaro <br /> Article 20 - Vern motioned that the Committee recommend the $1,050, seconded <br /> by Jim Vaccaro. there was unanimous approval <br /> I <br />
