TOWN OF MASHPEE
,. PERSONNEL BOARD
Minutes of Meeting, October 16, 1975, 6 p.m.
PRESENT: R.A. Graham, W.S. Clendenin, R.A. Maxim
This meeting was held at Mr. Graham's office, Sequoia Insurance
Co.
There was a discussion of Mr. Graham's meeting with the Board
of Selectmen held on October 15, 1975, in which he reported to and
brought the Selectmen up to date on current situation with regard
to Fire Contract negotiations.
Mr. Clendenin suggested that it be recommended to the Personnel
Board that at the next negotiation session for the Fire Contract all
members of the Board be present with Counsel. Mr. Clendenin again
expressed his confidence- in the efforts of Attorney Kowal and
the manner in which he had conducted negotiations to date on behalf
of the Personnel Board. Mr. Graham concurred in this appraisal.
Names of recent applicants for secretarial positions will be
sent to the Building Needs Committee indicating that the applicants
have indicated that they would be willing to work part-time, all
of whom the Personnel Board Seels are qualified.
A letter will be sent to Selectmen noting that the Personnel
Board has been informally notified that the Selectmen do not wish
to proceed with reappointment to the position of Executive Secretary.
The Selectmen's intentions in this matter; and a job description
will be requested. Also, it will be noted that in the opinion of
the Personnel Board, the Town is missing out on important Federal
funding projects , as well as review of Town employees and their
performance, which are the primary functions for which the Town
approved the position of Executive Secretary. The Personnel Board
has reviewed a number of very qualified applicants as a result of
advertising, originally requested by Selectmen.
Town Treasurer will be requested to inform the Personnel Board
of the hourly salary figures submitted in the past several months
for Special Police Officers by Chief Bingham.
The next meeting will be held on October 28, 1975, Tuesday.
Having no further business the meeting was adjourned at 8 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
jsa
