Minutes of the Personnel Board Meeting of December 20, 1976 <br /> The meeting of the Personnel Board was called to order at 7:30 P.M. by <br /> Frank Leonardi, Chairman with members Wilma Graham, Ken Parolski and John <br /> Peters attending. <br /> i <br /> The Board met with Ronald Pocknett, Conservation Officer. Mr. Pocknett <br /> expressed a need for a full-time man as Dog Officer as his effectiveness <br /> as a Conservation Officer is being diluted. He requested from the Board <br /> to grant him permission to pay Errol Hicks $3.00 per hour for the week <br /> of 12/6-12/12/76 and he would pay it from the Wildlife Officer Expense <br /> Account. The Board advised him that they concurred with this; however <br /> he must receive prior approval from the Conservation Commission. <br /> Chief Bingham Requested that we hire a new patrolman for the vacancy which <br /> will exist January 1, 1977. . The Board will take necessary steps to advertise . <br /> in the media and consider names from previous applications. Decided to act <br /> immediately as the Barnstable County Police Academy conducts one class <br /> annually to begin 24 Jan 77 should the individual selected for the vacancy <br /> is not a school trained police officer, the intent is to enroll him. <br /> Also suggested that a competitive- Civil Service Exam be given under the <br /> auspices of the Comm. of Mass for the position of Sergeant. Chief Bingham <br /> explained where the department actually needs two Sergeants. The recent <br /> altercation of Bevacqua, Kokmeyer and Gonsalves is scheduled for Criminal <br /> action on January 12, 1977• Suggested to Chief Bingham that he try to settle <br /> internally. <br /> The Board then met with Robert Maxim, Frank Hicks, Jerry DePalma, Ralph <br /> • Hendricks and Lansing Pocknett to discuss the December 7, 1976 incident. <br /> Before discussion started; Ken Parolski advised everyone that the next <br /> part of'the meeting will be taped. The-charge .pending against Ralph Hendricks- <br /> is <br /> endricks is unauthorized use of vehicle on Crane Wildlife Conservation Area. Court <br /> hearing is scheduled for January 17, 1978. <br /> Communication sent to Mrs. Adeline Hicks of the Mashpee Town Library advising <br /> her that the Board has no record of hiring Ms. Natalie Costa; therefore <br /> voucher f6r payment held up until clarified. <br /> Letter sent to Mrs. Susan Van Tol advising her that part-time employees are <br /> not subject to wage increase unless the Town votes to change the existing <br /> salary structure. . <br /> In response to Patricia Green's request, meeting set up for Monday January 3, <br /> 1977 at 8:00 P.M. <br /> Notified Florence Lucas and George Green that Vincent Lopez's probationery <br /> period ended December 1, 1976 and is now entitled to all full-time employee <br /> fringe benefits. <br /> Vacation approved for Bradford R. Fish, Sr.--4/25-4/29/77 and 5/3/and 5/7/77. <br /> i <br />
