PERSONNEL BOARD MINUTES • MEETING OF NOVEMBER 1, 1982 MASHPEE TOWN HALL The following members of the Personnel Board were present for the meeting: Caroline Gilligan, Curtis Woodbury, David Hardy and Manuel Glickman Acting Chairman Gilligan called the meeting to order at 6:05 p.m. Swearing In of Manuel Glickman Mr. Glickman was officially sworn in as a member of the Personnel Board by the .Town Clerk. Acceptance of Minutes Curtis Woodbury made a motion to accept the minutes of October 25, 1982. Manuel Glickman seconded the motion. All present were in favor. Request for Board Secretary Jane LaBute appeared before the Personnel Board to explain her request for a Board Secretary to the Elections & Registrations Board. She said that she would need some- one for 15 to 20 hours a week during the day to do typing and to go out into the field and take the census. She told the Board that the money is in the budget and explained that they have always .lived within their budget. She told the Board that Jane Barthole- mew was being recommended for the position as she is familiar with the work and is currently working on a temporary basis during the day at the rate of $3.90 per hour. • Dave asked if she would be creating a new position. 'Jane replied that it would be. Curtis commented that it would have to go to town meeting. He requested that a job description be drawn up and.the needs of the department be defined. Jane asked how the other new boards got a secretary with the position not going to town meeting mak- ing reference to the Charter Commission and the Growth Review Committee. The Personnel Board could not answer her question. Jane told the Board that she would draw up a job description and also send a memo to the Board .of Selectmen on the subject. Retirement Buffet Curtis Woodbury mentioned that there would be a surprise retirement buffet for William Lammers, a former police officer. It will be held at Ma Glockners on Tuesday, Nov. 9, with a cocktail hour from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with dinner after the cocktail hour. Request for Clarification on Board.Secretary Rate - In a memo dated October 29, Charles Hicks, Director of Civil Defense asked for clari- fication on the rate for a Board Secretary. The secretary was asked by the Board to send a memo back stating that the rate is currently $5.47 per hour. Recreation Aide The Board was brought up to date on the situation of Wendy Rubin's request for a Recreation Aide, Level I. A memo was sent to the Selectmen asking for their advise on the subject. No reply has been received to date. New Clerical Contract A copy of the new Clerical Contract was received. A memorandum from the Executive • Secretary advising the Board that a meeting to review the contract and answer ques- tions will be held on November 9, 1982 at 3:00 p.m.. at the town hall. .Caroline and Curtis said that they would try to attend the meeting.
