MINUTES OF PERSONNEL BOARD <br /> MEETING OF DECEMBER 5 , 1985 <br /> MASHPEE TOWN HALL <br /> The following members of the - Personnel Board were present : Chairman Robert <br /> Sullivan , Manuel Glickman_, C . Ben Lofchie and Edward Baker . <br /> Chairman Sullivan co-nvened the meeting at 6 : 00 p .m . <br /> Meeting With Animal Control Officer <br /> . June Daley met with the Personnel Board to discuss a part-time assistant <br /> Animal Control Officer position . She discussed comparative salaries of <br /> similar positions on the Cape . June pointed out that Mashpee requires <br /> .mores duties as there is no Natural Resource Department . <br /> With .regard to the job description , which June presented to the Board for <br /> their review , the Board discussed the hours of the position at length . <br /> Listed under the regular work schedule were hours from 8 : 00 a .m . to 4 : 00 <br /> p .m . Saturdays. , Sundays , and Holidays . Listed under Total Hours of the <br /> job description were 16 hours . June said that this person would be respon- <br /> sible for covering weekends and holidays . She said that she wants the <br /> person to be on call . <br /> Chief Frye , who was also present , said that he would like it to work like <br /> the scheduling for special police officers . He suggested having two people <br /> with one working one weekend and oneworking the other weekend . June said <br /> that she felt it would make it harder to keep tabs on what is going on . <br /> Chief Frye said that working people every weekend is difficult as they end <br /> up making all sorts of excuses as to why they can ' t work a particular week- <br /> end . <br /> After more discussion in trying to clarify the hours , Ed Baker motioned to <br /> accept the job description . Ben Lofchie seconded the motion. Chairman <br /> Sullivan said that it would be up to June to work out the scheduling prob- <br /> lems . All were in favor ofacceptingthe job description . <br /> r . <br /> June Daley recommendede_tha`t;a,h&rate of pay be set at $7 . 31 an hour , Grade IV , <br /> Step 1 . After some discussion of dropping it back a grade , Ben Lofchie <br /> motioned to recommend that the Assistant Animal Control Office be classified <br /> on Grade IV, Step 1 . Manuel Glickman seconded the motion . All in favor . <br /> Guidelines of Hiring Entry-Level .Police Officer . <br /> Ben Lofchie asked Chief Frye what the. status was of the guidelines for the <br /> entry-level police officer . Chief Frye said that he did not remember re- <br /> ceiving the entire package of guidelines ; however , hewouldcheck with the <br /> Deputy . <br /> Public Safety Dispatcher Interviews <br /> The Personnel Board, along with the assistance of Chief Frye , interviewed <br /> two candidates for the position of Public Safety Dispatcher . Candidates <br /> interviewed were : Ann Marie McIntire and Benjamin Perry . Radio tests and <br /> typing tests were given prior to ' the interviews . Candidates were apprised <br /> of the hourfyyrate of pay , $8 .21 , work hours and of the rotating shifts _ <br /> Qualifications and backgrounds of each. candidate were reviewed . After the <br /> interview,') process , the Board narrowed down the selection process to do <br /> background checks voting for Ann Marie McIntire as their top chmice and <br /> Ben Perry as their second choice . <br />
