PERSONNEL BOARD <br /> MEETING OF DECEMBER 4 , 1989 <br /> MASHPEE TOWN HALL <br /> The following Personnel Board members were present for tonight ' s meet- <br /> ing : Chairman Robert W . Sullivan , Manuel Glickman , C . Ben Lofchie and <br /> Jane Stockbridge . <br /> Chairman Sullivan convened the meeting at 6 : 00 p .m . <br /> Cost of Living Recommendation <br /> C . Ben Lofchie moved to recommend that the cost of living be set at 4% <br /> to go along with the D .P .W . Contract to include the stipulation that <br /> all work classifications will be increased by the average cost of living <br /> increases provided employees covered by the four bargaining units covering <br /> employees of general government . Manuel Glickman seconded . Chairman <br /> Sullivan commented that the Boston teachers are looking at a 4 . 9% increase <br /> for next year and that the Mashpee teachers are discussing 6% for the next <br /> three years . The Personnel Assistant advised the Board that Jeff Nutting <br /> asked the Board to be conservative in their recommendation . <br /> Chairman Sullivan commented that he would like it to be stated in the memo <br /> to the Finance Committee that it was Joe Murphy giving the cost of living <br /> to the Unions and that the Personnel Board was keeping P .A .P . people in <br /> line . <br /> Jane Stockbridge asked if the recommendation meant that you would raise <br /> all ranges by 4%? The other board members responsed "yes " . <br /> Chairman Sullivan explained that it was the Personnel Board who came up <br /> with the step and grade classification . <br /> The Board voted unanimously to move the motion . A memo will be sent to <br /> the Board of Selectmen and the Finance Committee stating that the Board <br /> will be happy to discuss this further if they have any questions . <br /> Interview of Administrative Secretary <br /> The Personnel Board interviewed Diana Lund for the new position of Admin- <br /> istrative Secretary to the Conservation Commission . The salary , work <br /> week hours (which would include some evening hours ) were discussed . It <br /> was noted that .Diana has already been working as a Board Secretary for the <br /> Conservation Commission which encompassed all the job duties ; i .e . the <br /> typing , shorthand and computer skills . Diana said that she was willing <br /> to work the additional hours . Chairman Sullivan advised Diana that she <br /> was doing an excellent job . Diana said that she enjoys the job and likes <br /> working with Bob Sherman , the Conservation Agent . It was noted that bene- <br /> fits would come with this position . <br /> Discussion on Concerns of Interview Process - re : Union Positions <br /> Chairman Sullivan advised the Board members that he discussed the matter <br /> with Selectman Hanson , who will meet with him tomorrow along with the <br /> Personnel Assistant . <br /> Ben Lofchie commented that a letter should go to- the Selectmen statitg'`.„the <br /> Board ' s disagreement . Chairman Sullivan agreed saying that the Selectmen <br /> have to know that there is more to the interview process than just the <br /> interview . <br />
