PERSONNEL BOARD MINUTES <br /> MEETING OF DECEMBER 10, 1990 <br /> MASHPEE TOWN HALL <br /> The following Personnel Board members were present for this morning ' s <br /> meeting : Chairman Robert W. Sullivan, C . Ben Lofchie, Leo Turo and <br /> Rita Sousa ( arriving around 10 : 00 a .m . ) . Also present were : Greg <br /> Taylor, D. P.W . Director and Errol Hicks, Supervisor of the D . P .W . <br /> The purpose of this meeting was to interview candidates for the Skilled <br /> Laborer position vacant due to the resignation of Lyle Greendeer. <br /> Chairman Sullivan convened the meeting at 9 : 10 a. m. <br /> The following candidates were interviewed : William Fay, George Barber, <br /> Stephen Dare, Richard Hawryluk, John Baker, George Reynar, John <br /> McGrath, Richard Perry, Russell Wheeler and Stefan Masse . <br /> Chairman Sullivan advised each of the candidates that the position was <br /> full-time and the rate of pay was set at $9 . 11/hrly. Candidates were <br /> asked to review the job description and to tell the Board how their <br /> backgrounds related . The Board asked each of the candidates if they <br /> held a Class I or II Ma . Driver' s License . All possessed either a <br /> Class I or II license with the exception of Stephen Dare . Chairman <br /> Sullivan advised Mr. Dare that he did not meet the minimum <br /> qualifications . <br /> At the conclusion of the interviews, the Board narrowed down the <br /> selection process to three semi-finalists : Richard Hawryluk, William <br /> Fay and Richard Perry. The D. P.W. Director and Supervisor were in <br /> agreement . <br /> Mr . Hawryluk of Mashpee has been involved in construction work most of <br /> his life . He was the owner/operator of The Austin Company for about <br /> six years and as a general contractor, he supervised a few employees . <br /> He recently changed his career to work for North American Van Lines due <br /> to the up and downs of the construction field and a drastic income <br /> change . He is looking for a job that has stability . Mr. Hawryluk was <br /> a Sergeant in the Marine Corps and was in charge of forty men. He has <br /> the basic knowledge of road surfacing as he was an engineer while in <br /> the service and did a lot of surface work on air strips in Puerto Rico. <br /> He has experience operating both light and heavy trucks . He can also <br /> do snow removal . He has the ability to maintain and make minor repairs <br /> of equipment . Mr. Hawryluk holds a Class I Ma . Driver ' s License and <br /> has graduated from Essex Agricultural and Technical Institute holding <br /> an Associates Degree in Applied Science . <br /> Mr . Fay, an E. Sandwich resident, currently works a part-time weekend <br /> job ( every other weekend ) for the Town of Sandwich Sanitation <br /> Department in which he supervises the transfer station and operates the <br /> loader, track loader and backhoe and transports the refuse to Otis . He <br /> also holds a temporary position with the Mass . National Cemetary which <br /> requires him to operate a backhoe and dump truck . Mr. Fay enjoys <br /> outside work and is looking for a permanent position. He has the <br />
