00 V,. <br />LEISURE SERVICES ADVISORY COUNCIL MEETING <br />December 6, 1994 <br />Conference Room <br />Present: <br />Elisa Meunier <br />Linda Young <br />Maureen Paxton <br />George Costa <br />Maryanne Gibbs <br />bsent: Also Present: <br />Ron Roberts Gus Frederick <br />L Opening of Meeting-- Elisa Meunier opened the meeting at 6:39 PM in the Middle School <br />Conference Room. <br />IL Secretary Re= - George made a motion to approve the minutes of Nov. 1, 1994 but to add <br />Maryanne Gibbs as absent. Maryanne seconded. Motion was approved. <br />F, .�_1 .,. <br />A. Gus had meeting with Caryl Coffey on GED: Adult Literacy Grant to renew. <br />B. Transportation Grant approved by selectmen; now Cape Cod <br />Commission needs to approve. <br />C. Communication for fields - will meet again in December. <br />D.Operating Budget - Extra lifeguards are needed - more money will be needed for that; lifeguard <br />training course begins inJanuary 18. Trying to rectify funding needed for other facilities; we <br />have a lot of catching up to do. <br />E. Communication board has been set up in Middle Sch.:ol. <br />F. Agreement between School Committee and Town for use of Buildings <br />(separate from bylaws) drawn up by Town Council. <br />G. LERN Conference - Some towns alleviated problems with school by using contracts. <br />H. Capital Improvements - <br />a. Church has great potential - the church group is also interested <br />In building. <br />b. Pool - not too much support. Is there a group out there for us to <br />push the pool; we should pursue this - pole at post office proposed. <br />c. Discussion about school problem with building. <br />d. George suggested expansion of Rec Building site. Presently only 23 kids are allowed <br />now; we could have more kids if building was bigger. <br />L JT'EC - Linda will find out how we can recruit more kids from Mashpee to be in the <br />program. <br />J. Comprehensive Plan - Gus will meet with Tom on this. <br />A. Old Business - <br />1. By -Laws - Read and we will discuss and approve in January. George <br />and Maryanne will distribute for discussion and input. Membership and <br />School use is most important. <br />2. Assistance Form - Linda Young made motion to accept this form. Maureen seconded. <br />Motion carried. <br />3. High School Update - no bricks - pool. <br />4. Together We Can - want Youth Center - Friday night program. <br />
