LEISURE SERVICES ADVISORY COUNCIL MEETING JANUARY 23, 1996 MASHPEE MIDDLE SCHOOL - CONFERENCE ROOM Present: Also Present: Absent: Maureen Parton Gus Frederick George Costa Linda Young Bob Tippo Ron Roberts Peggy Geary Kim Whitney Suzanne Cogswell Pat Riley Jo -Ann Darrah Terrie Cook Shiela Arnold OPENING OF MEETING - Maureen Paxton opened the meeting at 6:35 PM in Room 133 of the Mashpee Middle School. Il. SECRETARY'S REPORT - Pat Riley made a motion to approve the Minutes of December 5, 1995. Linda Young seconded. Motion carried. III. COMMUNICATIONS - Gus passed out complimentary letter from Mr. and Mrs. Gay and mentioned that their son, Jason, used our 3-5 year old program during the summer then went on to use our Kids Klub After School Program when he entered kindergarten this fall. IV. REPORTS A. OLD BUSINESS - 1. Capital Improvement - Gus mentioned that at the February 13th Capital Improvement Meeting he would like to make a presentation of the 1997 Capital Improvement Plan. This plan consists of a $20,000 purchase of a vehicle, $140,000 for the expansion of the Rec Bldg. Transportation is a big problem - trying to get kids from one spot to another. Gus would like to recommend next month either (1) Van or (2) a Bus. If the bus was purchased, a driver would need to be hired. At this time a discussion on transportation took place. Gus would like the Committee to come back to the next meeting with a comment on the purchase of a Van or Bus. Mrs. Darrah read a recommendation on the expansion of the Rec Bldg. regarding the potential use of the Rec. Bldg. and how to best utilize the rooms. Peg Geary mentioned her visit with other instructors to the Sandwich Community School Day Care program which services over 300 children. Gus mentioned the possibility of starting an all day child care program. Gus mentioned that final proposal on expansion of Rec. Bldg. will be finalized at next meeting to be brought to next Capital Improvement Meeting.
