LEISURE SERVICES ADVISORY COUNCIL MEETING <br />JANUARY 23, 1996 <br />MASHPEE MIDDLE SCHOOL - CONFERENCE ROOM <br />Present: <br />Also Present: Absent: <br />Maureen Parton <br />Gus Frederick George Costa <br />Linda Young <br />Bob Tippo <br />Ron Roberts <br />Peggy Geary <br />Kim Whitney <br />Suzanne Cogswell <br />Pat Riley <br />Jo -Ann Darrah <br />Terrie Cook <br />Shiela Arnold <br />OPENING OF MEETING - Maureen Paxton opened the meeting at 6:35 PM in Room <br />133 of the Mashpee Middle School. <br />Il. SECRETARY'S REPORT - Pat Riley made a motion to approve the Minutes of <br />December 5, 1995. Linda Young seconded. Motion carried. <br />III. COMMUNICATIONS - Gus passed out complimentary letter from Mr. and Mrs. Gay <br />and mentioned that their son, Jason, used our 3-5 year old program during the <br />summer then went on to use our Kids Klub After School Program when he <br />entered kindergarten this fall. <br />IV. REPORTS <br />A. OLD BUSINESS - <br />1. Capital Improvement - Gus mentioned that at the February 13th <br />Capital Improvement Meeting he would like to make a presentation of the <br />1997 Capital Improvement Plan. This plan consists of a $20,000 <br />purchase of a vehicle, $140,000 for the expansion of the Rec Bldg. <br />Transportation is a big problem - trying to get kids from one spot to <br />another. Gus would like to recommend next month either (1) Van <br />or (2) a Bus. If the bus was purchased, a driver would need to be <br />hired. <br />At this time a discussion on transportation took place. Gus would <br />like the Committee to come back to the next meeting with a comment on <br />the purchase of a Van or Bus. <br />Mrs. Darrah read a recommendation on the expansion of the Rec <br />Bldg. regarding the potential use of the Rec. Bldg. and how to best <br />utilize the rooms. Peg Geary mentioned her visit with other <br />instructors to the Sandwich Community School Day Care program <br />which services over 300 children. <br />Gus mentioned the possibility of starting an all day child care program. <br />Gus mentioned that final proposal on expansion of Rec. Bldg. will be <br />finalized at next meeting to be brought to next Capital Improvement <br />Meeting. <br />
