LEISURE SERVICES ADVISORY COUNCIL MEETING <br />May 14, 1997 <br />TOWN HALL <br />Present: Absent: Also Present <br />Sheila Arnold Ken Marsters Gus Frederick <br />Kim Whitney Pat Riley <br />Linda Young <br />Terrie Cook <br />Joleen Shultzabarger <br />Pat Antonellis <br />I. OPENING OF MEETING - Sheila Arnold opened the meeting at 6:40 PM in the <br />Town Hall meeting room. <br />II. MINUTES - Linda Young made a motion to approve the Minutes of the Meeting of <br />April 9, 1997. Pat Antonellis seconded this motion. Motion carried. <br />III. COMMUNICATIONS -Sheila Arnold mentioned that two children had written <br />letters to Leisure Services Department. Gus passed out copies of these two letters. Gus <br />asked everyone to look at the copy of a Teen Survey. Gus put this together after reviewing <br />the one handed out at the Youth Center. Gus passed out responses that were received from <br />the Youth Center. The one Gus did is geared more to the High School kids. This form <br />will be finalized and mailed to 10th, l lth, and 12th graders that go to Falmouth High <br />School. Gus mentioned that the Youth Center had a very sucessful car wash. <br />Gus also mentioned that there is a flyer for CCNC regarding campership applications. Last <br />year 50 - 60 kids were sent to camp. There is also a grant program through the Coalition <br />for a group or individual who has an idea for a program for children and families. <br />Applications are due May 29th. <br />IV. OLD BUSINESS <br />1. Summer Building Usage - Gus sent out letters to Sandra Feeley and Mike Forde <br />regarding summer program. Gus passed out Mashpee High School Calendars through <br />June 21st. Gus discussed some of the programs that will be coming up in the high school <br />Terrie Cook mentioned that as of the beginning of July the Agreement needs to be revised, <br />and some thoughts should be done regarding this meeting. It was suggested that <br />everybody write down any changes or concerns and bring them to Leisure Services <br />Advisory Council meeting in June. Ken Marsters should be in attendance at this meeting. <br />2. Rec Plan - Kim Whitney passed out revised Rec. Plan. She would like to let <br />people know what we are involved in. We would like everyone to know the benefits we <br />offer and get out into the community organizations so that they know what we are about <br />and what we offer. Now we are looking at the educational benefits of our program. A <br />discussion took place on educational programs. <br />3. "Friends Of" - No new information. Sheila Arnold is hoping she will have <br />information by the next meeting. <br />
