Kim Whitney seconded.
III Communications -
Capital Requests - 1999 - Gus has a memo to his staff in reference to Capital
Improvements. The last few years we have asked for vehicle (bus or van). Last
year's request was for $20,000. The figure should have been closer to $26,000.
This year, about $30,000. Also requested money for expansion of Rec. Bldg. We
are waiting to hear on a Grant which should be decided sometime in November.
Gus feels that this looks more positive for us this year. Last year was not
favorable. Cynthia Sturgis, the grant writer, has indicated that committee is very
favorable this year. This amount is close to $500,000.00. Expansion of Rec.
Bldg. Plus $25,000.00 - $30,000 for child care next year which would be a
voucher system has we do not have program in place at this time or during
construction time. Also $125,000.00 for a concession stand at South Cape Beach.
Also Gus has added a swimming pool. A copy of this proposal is in the office if
anyone wishes to review it.
Access Grant - Gus had a letter to Dr. DeMoura from Maureen Crowley. The biggest
reason for the success at Dennis -Yarmouth is that they have transportation and
child care. Also Harwich has these services. We are asking for use of van and
school driver and an extra room for child care.
School Links -Gus has been asked by Debbie Battles that the program be
expanded to Mashpee - State Education funding for additional programs to be run
after school. We are looking to run one in the K. C. Coombs School. They can be
