Bill Jones states 10% of the student population will go to the Voc school . <br /> Dr . DeMoura said the number of students going to the Voc school has <br /> remained fairly consistent 1987- 42 , 1994- 48 . The numbers are deceiving . <br /> He asked the Committee to look at the entire school system when reviewing <br /> this. In 2001 there will be 600 more students then we have now. In 1996 <br /> there will 300 more students then we have now . Where will we put them? <br /> Paul noted the EFNC voted not to include the Voc students because once the <br /> high school is open , the number of students choosing to go to the Voc <br /> school may drastically drop - that has to be considered . He thinks the <br /> Committee was correct in that choice . <br /> Steve asked if we had any official acceptance from the State for 1180 <br /> students? <br /> Dr. DeMoura explained the State will give everything in writing when the. <br /> preliminary plans are submitted to them. They have made statements to the <br /> newspaper that they accept 1180 students . <br /> Bob Fournier has no reason to believe the State will not approve 1180 <br /> students . Dr . Callabro and Dr . DeMoura have worked closely with the State . <br /> Peter said the biggest benefit form the State is they are reimbursing the <br /> whole project at $151 . 80 , even though it is housing 7th and 8th grades . <br /> Steve said the issue is the State agrees with the 1180 - that is the <br /> figure . <br /> Dr. DeMoura added if you reduce the number of students , the community areas <br /> will also have to be reduced . <br /> Bill Jones suggested the Committee should work more closely with the School <br /> Committee . Peter asked Janice Mills if the two Committees have worked <br /> cooperatively? <br /> Janice said absolutely . She is shocked by this statement . She feels she <br /> has communicated what the School Committee is doing- philosophically and <br /> financially . Dr . DeMoura is also satisfied . <br /> Paul explained Bill thought there should be more joint meetings . <br /> Janice said if School Committee members are needed they will attend . <br /> School Committee delegates a lot of assignments . <br /> Joe asked if the flexibility to handle junior high aspects as well as <br /> senior in the school architecturally? He does not think it is that clear <br /> in the design yet. The architects can help give a clear picture of how the <br /> two will work together. <br /> Merry Sue said a lot can be done with scheduling . <br /> Janice said we are still in the process . The double entrances are <br /> fantastic. <br /> Tom reminded everyone that the numbers Bill sites are Tom' s low figure <br /> projections . Tom also developed high projections. He didn ' t even use an <br /> average . <br /> Paul explained , in closing with Bill , he felt the project was going well <br /> but felt there were issues to be addressed .
