believes with a limited amount of overtime with key trades immediately, get
the exterior closed in, then work 7 days on the job. They need to buy more
staging so the mason can do more than 300 feet per day.
Cashin believes it is to the Town' s advantage if we can solve this with
Stone - the sooner the better.
Paul also spoke with Pat Costello, Town Counsel , about legal problems. He
would expect Stone to immediately file for a stay to stop the bonding
company from taking over the project. He doesn't think they will get it.
The court would assign an arbitrator and that discussion would be binding,
it could all happen within a few days.
Merry Sue said the Committee would not want to make a decision until after
tomorrow's meeting with the consultant. If we do choose to pull the bond,
does the Town choose which option it wants or does the bonding company
dictate that?
Paul said the bonding co. would ask the town if they have an objection to
using Stone.
Tom Wren is concerned about the legal form of tomorrow' s meeting. In
another situation he was involved in, similar to this , they tried to rely
on statements made in mediation but it was non-binding . Is that the case
tomorrow - it is non binding?
Paul said it is a fact finding mission. There are 3 items to be resolved,
deficiencies , administration issues, and expediting the job. The contract
is clear on where the direction comes from - the architect is the contract
administrator.
COLORS
Ed Frenette presented a new color scheme to the Committee. Last time they
presented cool and warm colors, including lavender/purple. The Committee
did not like it.
There are a lot of given (color) in the building -wood, ceilings.
Floor tile: goes will with the red block that will be in some locations
inside . It picks up the color of the banding. It has a modeled effect
(not smooth) . It is not polished at all , no wax, it will not be slippery at
all and will look better over time.
It is going in all public corridors. The secondary corridors will have
vinyl .
Hollow metal door frames ( leading into classrooms ) will be teal . Columns
will be grey. Aluminum doors , white.
Carpet - Ed believes has a "sandy" Cape Cod look and also has a Native
American look to it. It will go well with the block.
Lockers - blue , with grey above .
Cabinets - beige, with speckled tops .
Auditorium has a more sophisticated/dramatic look. The curtains will be
dark grey, carpet dark grey. Seat sides and backs are black and the fabric
seats burgundy.
The suppliers are required to provide 2% replacement for these materials .
Paul said the punchlist replacement should not come from the 2%. Ed said it
is up to the Committee but it shouldn't come from the 2%
** Paul made a motion to accept the colors as presented. Merry Sue
seconded the motion. All members were in favor 5-0**
3
