Joe Polito asked what the labor for CIC was?
Mike Kirwin explained it is for deliveryā€˛ unpacking, configuring of the computers to Mashpee
standards, connect them to the network, trash removal.
The two new laser printers will be put in the new computer labs .
Codex Video modem: what is the difference between this and satellite capabilities? Paul
explained Steve Greelish said a lot of secondary schools don't have satellite hook ups but have
video conferencing. It is cheaper than satellite hookup.
Mike Kirwin explained satellite is good for receiving things. It is significantly more expensive
to have 2 way satellite transmission.
Paul asked the cost of the 6 isdn lines needed, per month?
Joe Augenblick said it is $90 per line per month. Dr. DeMoura said there is an educational
discount.
Mike Pietrowski said this system can be adapted to the AMX system so video conferencing can
be used in the entire building. It makes the most sense for this unit to be in the control room.
The classroom would then need only a microphone and camera. The High School is setting up a
relationship with Stonehill College, so they can offer courses here. The Community College can
do the same. There will be a lot to offer for the teachers.
Joe Polito said it sounds like this piece of equipment will complete the thought we all
envisioned for this school.
John Williams added that it will have a real benefit to students here because of the limited
proximity to colleges.
Peter asked if it can conduct one conference at a time?
Mr. O'Connor said it can hold only I conference(subject) at a time but can tie in 4 locations.
Mike Pietrowski added that it is good experience for the students to learn how to set it up and
use it. They could move into a corporation with that experience.
Paul suggested the School Department use it as a revenue producer by charging a fee for the use
of the site and equipment.
Janice explained that part of Ed Reform is School to work. The technology we have really fits
that beautifully, there are hundreds of different directions students can head right out of high
school.
** Paul made a motion to forward to the Selectmen for their approval the Phase 2
Technology list for a total of$452,506.00. Joe seconded the motion.
Peter asked if, of the $951,000 left in the budget, we are now spending half of it? That is
correct.
** All members in favor 5-0**
