CHAIN OF COMMAND <br /> Chain of command in the school building is always through the teacher first. The principal <br /> and/or the guidance personnel may be contacted subsequently if a concern persists. <br /> Transportation concerns should be addressed to the building principal in writing. <br /> STUDENT SERVICES <br /> Title I <br /> Title I services are offered to grade K-2 students who have a substantial reading deficit. <br /> This service provides remediation and reinforcement of basic skills. <br /> Guidance Department <br /> Counselors are trained to support students, staff, and parents/guardians for educational, <br /> social and emotional needs of our students. <br /> The procedure for scheduling an appointment is as follows: <br /> • Parents/guardians may make an appointment by calling the school 508-539-1520 <br /> • A student may make an appointment by obtaining a pass from the <br /> homeroom teacher. <br /> • In emergency situations, a student may report directly to the guidance <br /> office. <br /> • When a counselor wishes to see a student, the homeroom teacher will <br /> be notified. <br /> Some of the services of the guidance office are: <br /> • Helping students with personal, familial, educational and social needs <br /> • Counseling regarding academic achievement, decision making, <br /> problem solving and life skills <br /> • Reviewing and interpreting school records <br /> • Lending reading materials <br /> • Facilitating small student support groups <br /> • Working with administration, staff, children,parents/guardians and public/private <br /> agencies <br /> Student Support Center and Autism Programs <br /> The TEAM prepares and implements individualized educational plans for those students <br /> who are found to have significant social, behavioral, emotional and/or autism needs. <br /> Referrals for all evaluations are addressed to the Special Education Director. <br /> Speech/Language Therapist <br /> The Speech/Language Therapist provides evaluation and small group therapy sessions for <br /> students with significant speech and/or language disabilities. Referrals for speech/language <br /> services are made through the Special Education Director. <br /> 47 <br />
