MASHPEE MIDDLE SCHOOL <br /> SCHOOL COUNCIL <br /> THURSDAY, JANUARY 23, 2014 <br /> 2:15PM—ROOM A106 <br /> MEETING MINUTES <br /> Meeting called to order <br /> In attendance: <br /> Sheila Arnold, Chris Santos, Beth Wunder, Greg McKelvey, Patricia Morano, Patricia Donovan, Sheri Vinitsky, Brian <br /> Hyde <br /> Minutes <br /> • Minutes approved from October and December meetings <br /> Appointment <br /> • Maureen Goldsmith appointed Executive Administrative Assistant <br /> Old Business <br /> • PTO Information—Book Fair begins January 27th and will run through to January 31st. <br /> • School Improvement Plan has been approved and presented to School Committee. This is a living <br /> document <br /> • Washington, DC Trip—once a month student meetings have started; raffle tickets have been distributed and <br /> students are in the selling process; raffle will be drawn in early March <br /> • PAARC Testing- PAARC is the new MCAS and could be implemented as early as next year. Grades 3 and <br /> 10 or 11 will be taking paper version of test. Two classes in grades 7 and 8 will be taking the ELA <br /> computerized test. The classes participating in testing have been chosen. Scores will not be received by <br /> students or schools. This is a field test for questions. Test will be administered in April(benchmark) and in <br /> June. <br /> • Events—Mock MCAS given on January 7 and 8; Cape Cod Tech lunches took place on January 21, 23, and <br /> 24; mid-term exams on January 22, 24, and 27; Parent(Teacher Conferences on January 30; Program of <br /> Studies evening(Open House) also on January 30;Annual Spelling Bee taking place February 14 <br /> New Business <br /> • DSAC—District and School Assistance Centers provides assistance to Level 3 districts and schools on <br /> making necessary improvements. Meetings are attended once a month. <br /> • Superintendent Brian Hyde presented his Entry Plan Findings to School Council <br /> Meeting adjourned <br />
