may look at some activities designed to develop or
enhance feelings toward the K.C. Coombs School. Mr.
Feldman discussed events involving seniors and
business, and events we may want to continue or
initiate. Mr. Feldman discussed some initiatives he
will be pursuing in the future.
b. Goal 2 . Expand students learning opportunities
through extended day initiatives . Currently, there is
no school-budgeted after school programs. Currently,
Leisure Services sponsors and funds the after school
program (with user fees to defray costs) . We need to
come up with a plan to have quality after school
programs for the children. This program
may be "down to earth" than future problem solvers .
Mr. Feldman has literature on the program and will be
sending a letter to parents to learn if a community
member would be willing to sponsor the program.
d. Goal 4 . Promote and develop varied opportunities
for ongoing, professional growth (professional
development) . The original Education Reform law
required a certain amount be budgeted for professional
development (3% of salaries) . However, that provision
has fallen apart . Within our community, we are unable
to fund professional development programs at the
originally mandated levels . To get around that, the
school staff has been busy writing grants and searching
for creative ways to fund the program. One way
selected to enhance professional development is the
