Jt
Second Step is being taught in the classrooms at WC by
classroom teachers
New Business:
• Nick Feldman Sportsmanship Award: Margie Mitchell: Ms
Mitchell addressed the School Council about her plans to
name a IWC sportsmanship award after Nick Feldman who
was a principal who often played basketball at recess with
the students of KCC. The award is a work in progress, she is
not sure if it will be a trophy or an award, how many children
will receive the award or what grade levels the awards will
be given to. She asked that if we have any ideas then we can
email them to her. She will form a committee at KCC to help
with this process to ensure that the award can be clearly
defined and is sustainable.
• Everyday Math: Updates/PLC
Everyday Math - Parent Homework Help Night, led by
MaryKate O'Brien, January 12'h, 5:OOpm-7:00pm.
Parents at WC have been asking how to help their
children with the new math homework. Parents will be
provided with the language used in Everyday Mathematics
as well as homework tips
➢ Ideas for School Council to support school
improvement goal workshops: At our next school
Council Meeting we will discuss the possibility of a
school wide Everyday Math initiative.
