COOMBS SCHOOL COUNCIL MEETING <br /> WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 8, 2006 <br /> CONFERENCE ROOM— 3:30PM <br /> MINUTES <br /> Present: Louise Doyle,Principal; Mary Russell, Barbara Cotton, Leslie Estep, �I <br /> Todd Franks <br /> Absent: Carole Dorksy, Kim Palmer <br /> �!� I Meeting called to order at 3:40pm. <br /> No one was present for Open Forum. !' <br /> I Ii I <br /> Council then reviewed the October meeting minutes. Motion to approve was made by <br /> Mary Russell. Barbara Cotton seconded the motion. October minutes unanimously <br /> accepted. <br /> ,III I ;II <br /> I; Mary Russell reported on the School hltprovement Plan and budget statement presented I <br /> �I, I to the School Committee on November ls`, 2006. Debra Greene and Janet MacNally " <br /> from the Program Improvement Mapping Committee joined her in the overhead <br /> presentation. Mrs. Romkey, School Committee member, asked questions about the <br /> Coombs School microphone and sound system issues. These committee members <br /> referred her to Mrs. Doyle, school principal, to discuss these concerns. Mrs. Doyle <br /> shared with the Council that a system was priced out at approximately $10,000 for the <br /> cafeteria and the gymnasium. Mr. Franks and Mrs. Estep will explore further <br /> I' <br /> comparative pricing on the needed sound equipment. This equipment is vital to staff <br /> training, school assemblies, courses offered, etc. Building security was discussed in <br /> jterms of the school's missing wireless microphones. Many groups use the facilities and <br /> the microphones "disappeared". This has occurred several times. It is costly to the <br /> school. There was further discussion about locking office doors after hours to secure I' <br /> school property. I :: <br /> Preschool was discussed regarding having 4/5 year old students attend full day programs. !, <br /> I�il li <br /> Head Start will not be housed at KCC in FY08 as there will be a need for an additional <br /> grade two classroom and this space will be utilized as a classroom. <br /> A 1.0 assistant principal position was discussed or perhaps a .5 assistant principal with a <br /> 'I I .5 early childhood coordinator. <br /> i <br /> i '. <br /> j <br />
