Quashnet River School Council <br /> Meeting Minutes <br /> November 12, 1998 <br /> Meeting called to order 6:30 p.m. <br /> Attendees: Louise Doyle, Sandy Reichel,Angela Luna„Donna McCaffery,Rebecca Bingham,,Lucinda McKay, <br /> Carol Russell <br /> Public Forum: <br /> No one spoke at public forum. <br /> Approval of minutes: <br /> Minutes from October 14, 1998 were distributed and read. The word minute needed to be added on page four. <br /> Donna McCaffery moved to approve the minutes as amended.Lucinda McKay seconded it. Unanimously approved. <br /> FY 2000 budget update <br /> There will be a school committee budget meeting on Wednesday,November 18,7:00 p.m., at the Mgh School,room <br /> B 103. Council co-chairs will make a short presentation. <br /> Requests for next year <br /> • additional P and 6th grade teacher <br /> • .4 specialist <br /> • .4 sped person <br /> • sped chairperson 80% teacher,201/a chairperson <br /> Currently there are over 60 sped meetings to chair. Nancy Kerrigan chairs grade 4, 5,&6. Mrs. Doyle chairs <br /> K-3. <br /> • .5 guidance secretary <br /> Currently Quashnet schools have .5 guidance secretary/school for 900 children. <br /> Would like to increase that to .75/school <br /> • Request from guidance counselors <br /> Color monitor computer for each counselor. <br /> Computer system updated. <br /> Fac for each school guidance office. Discussed the need for additional phones and imemet access <br /> • 5 days for summer guidance secretary to process registrations and paperwork prior to school opening <br /> • Need to improve method of generating report cards <br /> new scanner <br /> at the high school teachers emer grades themselves <br /> • Alternative learning center (non sped) <br /> The current structured learning center has become a sped program. <br /> • .5 nurse <br /> We currently have I nurse for 900 students <br /> • 5 remedial reading teacher <br /> • Repair sidewalks outside of school <br /> • Professional development money <br /> $3 5.00/teacher for this year <br /> • .5 truancy officer <br /> Principals cannot file truancy petition. <br /> Kevin Frye is the police Eason,but mostly does DARE program. <br /> • Office copier <br /> There was a discussion about moving the office to Room 128. The secretary,guidance, and principal suite would <br /> occupy the music room, which is currently used for storage and the Kids Club program. <br /> Math Night <br /> survey was sent out to the staffasking for volunteers. There was a good, Lucinda-resented a Famiiv <br /> Varh How To book. Funds for supolies are available. Possible dates were discussed. Decided to try for the second <br /> week in March. <br /> II <br />
