Quashnet River School Council Meeting Mmutes. January 7, 1999 II Meeting called to order 6:30 p.m. Attendees: Sandy Reichel,Angela Luna,Donna McCaffery,Rebecca Bingham,Lucinda McKay, Carol Russell, Kathleen Penney _ Public Forum: No one spoke at public fortun. Approval of minutes: Minutes from December 9, 1998 were distributed and read. The daze of the Marionettes production is changed to March 5, 1999. Kathleen Penney moved to approve the minutes. Lucinda McKay seconded it. Unanimously approved. FY 2000 budget update There will be a school committee budget meeting on Wednesday, January 13, 7:00 p.m., at the Mgh School, room B 103. The school committee requests that school council members be present. Sandy Reichel will check into getting council members copies of the budget prior to this meeting. Blinard of Books Over"Moks were donated , entered into a computer database, and distributed to classrooms. A suggestion was made to do this again next year in January or the Spring. Facility Concerns This will be discussed at the next meeting.. Teachers brought up concerns over no lights on in the parking lot and no salt on the sidewalks in the morning for buses. Media/Public Library Display Two bookcase tops and the whole back wall of the public library are available for display of children's work. It was suggested that each grade levet be assigned a month for display and post it in the teacher's lounge. A tentative schedule was put together subject to Mrs. Doyle's approval. A reminder schedule will be sent out. Tentative Schedule February-grade 4 March-grade 6 April-grade 5 May-grade 3 June-grade 2 The QRS library or Mashpee Post Office will be used for displaying the lower grades work. Items for display will be collected the first week of each month. Sandy Reichel will deliver and set up items in the library. Donna McCaffery offered to help. To encourage use of the library, it was suggested to let parents know through the newsletter which grades work is being displayed. Math Night Lucinda McKay and Carol Russell gave an update on math night preparations. The date will be March 10 from 6:30 —8:30. The name Sprang Into Family hfarh was chosen. There will be a staff meeting January 20 to discuss the logistics of space. Preregistration. permission slips, and babysitting for toddlers and preschoolers was discussed. Carol Russel invited the council to view the math ni_aht where she teaches at North Fa mouth Elementary School on January 27.
