MASHPEE HIGH SCHOOL BUILDING COMMITTEE
TUESDAY, JULY 16 , 1996
HIGH SCHOOL SITE
Present : Joe Polito, Paul Griffin, Peter Dinizio, Merry Sue
Ahlgren, Janice Mills, Steve Greelish
Also Present: Tom Wren, John Williams , Dr. DeMoura, Marie
Scalley, Wes Pettit from Paxton Patterson
Meeting convened at 4 : 15 p.m.
Paul explained that after going through the agenda, George Gunn
has an issue he would like the Committee to review regarding the
ceramic tile and would like to walk through the building with the
Committee .
Dr. DeMoura spoke with Manny Tavares , there is a large amount of
furniture due to be delivered the first week of August and he
wants to know if there are any problems with that schedule?
Paul explained Manny was at the site yesterday and discussed this
issue.
Dr. DeMoura said the School Committee would like to provide an
orientation program for the entering students and their parents,
before the first day of school .
Paul said that is workable . John Williams will work it out with
Paul .
Marie Scalley was present. She explained she lives across the
street and is a former employee of the Mashpee Water District so
she is aware of the water usage at this site . She has seen Stone
using the hydrant by the sewage treatment plant, with no meter on
it. When they were seeding, she saw many trucks using hydrants
with no meters. She is also concerned after hearing they will be
flushing the water system tomorrow.
Paul said the flushing is for interior sanitation of the piping,
it is flushed with a sterilization chemical . He can assure her
the building is metered.
He will look into the unmetered use and advise Stone of their
responsibility.
Marie said they did pay a hefty water bill last summer. She does
ont think it is fair for them to use town water without paying
for it.
Marie said she saw the paved walk, at the intersection of 151 and
thought it was a great idea but is nervous because she has seen
cars using it.
Paul said it was not built for cars. There will be a pole in the
middle of the path, at both ends, to prevent cars from using it.
They held off putting in the pipe because the electricians used
it during a strike.
1
