The 1986 Annual Town Meeting voted to accept a
four percent hotel/motel excise tax beginning
October 1, 1986. The law requires these funds
to go to the Town's general treasury. This
article proposes to set aside half of the revenue
to be subject to the meeting action with the other
half to go to the general receipts of the Town to
offset other town expenditures. It is the intent
of this article to provide a permanent source of
funding for such Capital Improvement Program pro-
jects as recreational improvements and dredging.
The effective date was deferred a year to July
1988 to offset the lack of other available funds
for this Annual Town Meeting.
Article 18 :
To see if the Town will vote to amend Apendix A of the Personnel
Administration Plan to include a 48 cost of living increase as
: follows:
Motion to accept as printed. . .motion carries. . . . . . . . . . . . .9:12 P.M.
This article would provide for a four percent
salary increase for non-union employees and
department heads. A similar percentage in-
crease previously was approved for clerical
personnel. No specific appropriation is re-
quested in this article as it would set the
standards for salaries in the operating
budget of the Town in Article 20 .
