Article 29 :
To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate or transfer from
available funds $2, 250 to continue the diagnostic feasibility study of
Ashumet Pond in conjunction with the Town of Falmouth, and to
authorize the Board of Selectmen to apply for, receive, and expend
without further appropriation funds from the Commonwealth for said
purpose,
In 1984, Mashpee joined with Falmouth in funding
a study of Ashumet Pond with the state providing
the bulk of the money. The final report of that
study in January indicates a need to continue with
the study to identify the sources and movement of
contamination located above the pond. There is
evidence of a hydrocarbon plume entering the cran—
berry bog near the pond. The state would pay $10 ,500
for this study while Mashpee and Falmouth each would
pay $2, 250 .
Motion:the Town vote to raise and appropriate 32 . 250 to continue
the diagnostic feasibility study of Ashumet Pond in conjunction
with the Town of Falmouth , and to authori=e the Board of Select -
men to apo1y for , receive , and expend without further appropria -
tion funds from th_ Commonwealth `or said ourpos
Motion carries. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
