Algonquin Avenue has become a matter of public safety. The Code of the Town of Mashpee allows for the Board of Selectmen to convert private roadways and assess betterments to the abutting property owners. . Recommendation: The Finance Committee recommends approval. 1 Motion made to dispense with the reading of article. Motion: I move that the Town vote to accept the layout of Algonquin Avenue as a public way, ,I,ar as shown on the plan entitled"Taking Plan of Land in Mashpee, MA" dated August 15, 1997, by i+ , Eagle Surveying and Engineering, Inc., which layout shall be filed in the Office of the Town Clerk, not later than seven days prior to the date of the vote hereunder; that the Board of Selectmen is hereby authorized to acquire by gift, purchase or eminent domain taking any land necessary for the purpose of such way as so laid out; that the sum of$263,388 is hereby appropriated to pay costs of converting Algonquin Avenue from a private way to a public way; that to meet this appropriation, the Treasurer, with the approval of the Board of Selectmen, is hereby authorized to borrow said amount at one time, or from time to time, under and pursuant to Chapter 44, Sections 7 or 8 or pursuant to any other enabling authority and to issue bonds and notes of the Town therefor; and that the Board of Selectmen are hereby further authorized to assess betterments to the owners of the land abutting the ways to be benefited by the work to be undertaken pursuant to this vote. Motion passes by 2/3rds vote at 9:34 p.m. Article 10 To see if the Town will vote to authorize the Board of Selectmen to enter into and execute a lease agreement pursuant to M.G.L. c.30B and c.40, sAA with the Cape Cod Regional Transit Authority for a ten passenger van, and for expenses incidental thereto, upon such terms and conditions as the Selectmen shall deem to be in the best interest of the Town, or take any other action relating thereto.
