R.E.D. #1
Mashpee, Ma. 02649
August 20, 1979
To The Citizens of Mashpee
c/o Bernice Grant, Town Clerk
Mashpee Town Hall
Mashpee, Ma. 02640
Dear Citizens:
I, Robert A. Graham, regretably at this time have to resign d; k
my office of Assessor of the Town of Mashpee. I wish this resig-
nation to be acted upon and take effect at the next Special Town
Meeting.
I would like to thank the citizens of the Town of Mashpee
for all the support they have given me and for letting me serve
as an Elected Officer over the last few years.
May I suggest a cost saving proposal for now, and a more
fair way to fill the elected office later with my .replacement.
'G
Have George Benway, take over my duties as an assessor, with
no additional pay, as he is receiving $20,000 per year as a full
time selectman now, and supposedly spending the whole day at Town
Hall. If this method is accepted, it will stop any unfair advan-
tage that one candidate will have over any other candidate at the
next annual election.
In this way, the citizens of Mashpee will be able to vote
for the most qualified candidate, not the appointed incumbent.
Again let me thank all my fellow citizens, it has been my
pleasure to serve.
- i
Scerely,
Robert A.
