MA 02649 <br /> I <br /> DECISION <br /> FOR A SPECIAL PERMIT <br /> RE: Petition of Shell Oil Company for a Special Permit SP-88-07-058 <br /> A Petition was filed by Shell Oil Company of Westwood, Massachusetts <br /> for a Special Permit under Section 5.5. 1 of the Land Use Requirements <br /> for permission to alter a pre-existing non-conforming sign in a C-2 <br /> zoning district on property located on Route 151 (Map 72, Lot 85) <br /> Mashpee, Massachusetts. <br /> Notice was duly given to abutters in accordance with Massachusetts <br /> General Laws Chapter 40A. Notice was given by publication in the <br /> Falmouth Enterprise, a newspaper of general circulation in the Town <br /> of Mashpee, on August 3 and August 10, 1988, a copy of which is <br /> attached hereto and made a part hereof. ' <br /> A public hearing was held on the petition at the Mashpee Town <br /> Hall on Wednesday, August 17, 1988 at 7:30 p.m. at which time the <br /> following members of the Board of Appeals were present and acting <br /> throughout: William Hanrahan, Michael Makunas and Edward Govoni. <br /> Counsel, representing the Applicant, informed the Board that the <br /> Design Review Committee had requested a revision in the signage and <br /> the applicant is proposing to move a pre-existing non-conforming sign <br /> back from Town land and alter the height. <br /> The Board established thatgranting this Special Permit would be <br /> in harmony with the general purpose and intent of the ordinance or <br /> by-law, and would not be a detriment to the surrounding neighborhood. <br />
