MINUTES June 8, 1988 <br />BOARD OF APPEALS <br />Edward R. Wasil (continued) - Requested a Special Permit under Section <br />10 of the Zoning By -Law Requirements for permission to exceed the signage <br />• requirements in a R-3, previously R-4 Zoning District on property located <br />on Great Neck Road South and Donna's Lane, (map 8, parcel 4), Mashpee, <br />Massachusetts. <br />Mr. Hanrahan stated there is no representation present this evening <br />for this Special Permit request however there is a written request for <br />continuation until June 25, 198 meeting and a thirty day extension past <br />the time frame allotted for Special Permit applications and motioned to <br />continue this application until the requested meeting date, Mr. Makunas <br />seconded, all agreed. <br />Craig D. Arnold (advisement) - Requested a Special Permit under Section <br />6, subsection A.8 of the Land Use Requirements for permission to convert an <br />existing garage to an In -Law apartment in a R-3 Zoning District on property <br />located on lot 3 Egret Court, (map 69, parcel 102), Mashpee, Massachusetts. <br />Members sitting: William Hanrahan, Michael Makunas and Cheryl Hawver. <br />Mr. Hanrahan stated there is no representation in attendance this <br />evening and motioned to carry this Special Permit application under advise- <br />ment until the next regularly scheduled meeting, Mr. Makunas seconded, all <br />agreed. <br />Shell Oil Company (advisement) - Requested a Special Permit under Section <br />5.1 of t e Zoning By -Law Requirements for permission to modify the pre-existing <br />• pump and island structures and to replace undergorund tanks in a C-2 Zoning <br />District located at the Shell Oil Company on Route 151, (map 72, parcel 85), <br />Mashpee, Massachusetts. <br />Members sitting: William Hanrahan, Michael Makunas and Richard Halpern. <br />Attorney Kevin Kirraine was in attendance for for this Special Permit <br />request. <br />Attorney Kirraine explained to the Board that at the prior meeting there <br />were questions raised as to the number of signs and the square footage of the <br />signs proposed. He stated the plans presented at the prior meeting consisted <br />of 14 signs with total square footage of 146.74', six signs on the pumping <br />island and signs on either ends of the station together with signs on the <br />existing building. Attorney Kirraine informed the Board what the applicant <br />proposes to do is remove the sign (shown to the Board), remove the signs on <br />the front end of the canopy, have one sign on one end stating self -serve, <br />one reading Shell which is located at the top of the canopy (shown to the <br />Board). At this time Attorney Kirraine located on plans the location of the <br />remaining signs to the Board. He stated they propose to install a consoli- <br />dated sign, where there is already an existing sign, the consolidated sign <br />would be moved back to the location (shown to the Board) and explained the <br />pricing sign would be consolidated with the Shell sign, thereby eliminating <br />one sign that was on the other side and reduced its square footage. <br />C, <br />J <br />
