BOARD OF SELECTMEN <br /> MINUTES - REGULAR SESSION <br /> MONDAY, APRIL 9, 1990 <br /> PAGE TWO <br /> APPOINTMENTS 8 HEARINGS <br /> #1 (Cont. ) <br /> Mr. Carter moved to grant Wine and Malt Package Store <br /> License to Best Buy Beverage. Mr. Gottlieb seconded the <br /> motion. Mr. Hanson was opposed. Mr. Lawrence abstained <br /> and removed himself from the room. <br /> 2 . LIQUOR LICESE HEARING - FISHER'S GENERAL STORE - Mr. <br /> Carter moved to accept a letter from Karen Fisher stating <br /> that she had withdrawn her application for a seasonal Malt <br /> and Wine License for Fisher's General Store located at <br /> Popponesset Marketplace, Shore Drive, Mashpee. Mr . Hanson <br /> seconded the motion and Mr. Gottlieb was in favor. Mr. <br /> Lawrence abstained and removed himself from the room. <br /> 3 . SCHOOL BUILDING COMMITTEE - PROGRESS REPORT - Dr. DeMoura <br /> attended to discuss the Committee' s work to date and <br /> recommendations regarding a new school . <br /> Dr. DeMoura presented enrollment projections through 1993. <br /> These projections indicated a need for 18 additional <br /> classrooms. Additionally, he stated that the largest <br /> number of students are in the early grades. <br /> Dr . DeMoura discussed the options available for <br /> renovations/additions to existing buildings. <br /> Davis School - if portables are removed, there would be 8 <br /> classrooms available. The cost to rehab the facility would <br /> be approximately $3, 000,000 ($ 103. 45 per square foot) . <br /> This is not SBAB reimburseable. Coombs School - Alternate <br /> 1 - add 8 additional classrooms, Alternate 2 - covering <br /> over the library and placing two classrooms above the <br /> library. This project would not be funded by SBAB, and <br /> present reimbursement could be cancelled because educatioal <br /> specifications called for a school not to include more than <br /> 600 students . Middle School - Alterante 1 - Add six <br /> classrooms, Alternate 2 - Add nine classrooms. SBAB agreed <br /> with six additional classrooms, but questioned another nine <br /> classrooms on top of the six. Finally, the recommendation <br /> would be to build a new school to consist of 31 classrooms. <br /> By the time the school opened 18 of these classrooms would <br /> be utilized. <br />
