Board of Selectmen
Minutes 2
February 9, 1998
APPOINTMENTS AND HEARING&
Water Districto
Deirdre Greelish, a member of the Water District Commission was present
to discuss the designation of Town owned land as a potential site for the
future Water District office and maintenance yard.
Three sites were identified for the Board's consideration. It has been
determined through an informal needs analysis, that a site of approximately
two acres is necessary to accommodate the needs of the Water District.
Sites located in the vicinity of Ashers Path adjacent to the Transfer Station,
off Route 151 between the Police Station and Coombs School, and on
Route 28, north of the Madaket Place office buildings were identified by
Tom Fudala, the Town Planner as potential site locations.
It is the consensus of the Board to commit to the site located on Route 28,
north of Madaket Place for the future Water District office and maintenance
yard. The 2.19 acre site is part of an 11.58 acre industrially zoned parcel
which has been reserved for future economic development projects which
might require input of Town owned land.
Mr. Whritenour was directed to prepare an article for the May Town Meeting
warrant with respect to this regard. It is the consensus of the Board to approve
the land transfer subject to the approval of the building construction process.
It was noted that a conceptual street is proposed to run parallel to Route 28
between Donna's Lane and the Industrial Park. The Water District envisions
access from this location to alleviate additional curb cuts along Route 28.
However,Route 28 is the only access to the site at this time.
