Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes <br /> February 17, 1998 <br /> Present: Selectman Costa, Selectman Marsters, Selectman Caffyn <br /> Executive Secretary Robert Whritenour <br /> Absent: Selectman Frye <br /> Meeting Called to Order by Chairman Costa at 2:08 p.m. <br /> Town Hall,Meeting Room#1. <br /> FY99 BUDGET WORKSHOP <br /> The Board of Selectmen held a workshop session for the purpose of <br /> reviewing budget recommendations for Fiscal Year 1999. Diane Rommelmeyer, <br /> Town Accountant, Greg Taylor,Director of Public Works, and Alec Watt, <br /> Chairman of the Finance Committee were also present to review the budget <br /> process with members of the Board of Selectmen. <br /> Mr. Whritenour, Executive Secretary presented a proposed list of budget <br /> priorities to the Selectmen for consideration. The total recommended budget for <br /> fiscal year 1999 is $28,500,776. The figure represents an increase of 2.6%over <br /> the previous year, and may be completely funded within the limitations imposed <br /> by proposition 2 1/2. <br /> Capital Improvement Project <br /> Members of the Capital Improvement Committee will be requested to present <br /> a budget report, and prioritize projects to the Board of Selectmen for additional <br /> review and consideration. <br /> It was noted that departmental requests for capital improvement in the amount of <br /> $1,433,310 exceed the Selectmen's recommendation of$810,250. <br /> Director of Public Works: <br /> Greg Taylor,Director of Public Works discussed the preliminary FY99 budget of <br /> the Department of Public Works. The Board fully supported the new position of <br /> Town Engineer. An in-house engineer would greatly assist with the development <br /> of the town, and provide support to town regulatory agencies. <br /> Mr. Taylor indicated that he has ample space in the DPW building to provide for <br /> the Town Engineer's office and function. <br />
