3 <br /> Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes <br /> February 8, 1999 <br /> APPOINTMENTS AND HEARINGS: <br /> Director of Public Works re: Chapter 90 Funds: <br /> Mr. Taylor indicated that the Governor's budget does not fund the <br /> Chapter 90, State Aid program for roads. The Town's allocation for fiscal <br /> Year 1999 is $440,903. <br /> The Selectmen were requested to inform the Governor and the Legislature <br /> of the hardship that this imparts on the Town of Mashpee. Selectman <br /> Caffyn,the newly appointed Upper Cape State Representative indicated <br /> that she will review this matter on behalf of the Board of Selectmen. Mr. <br /> Whritenour was directed to draft the applicable memorandums on behalf <br /> of the Board. <br /> Route 28 Bikeway: <br /> Mr. Taylor requested the Selectmen submit a letter to the Massachusetts <br /> Executive Office of Environmental Affairs(MEPA) in support of the <br /> Route 28 shoulder and sidewalk construction project. An onsite meeting <br /> is scheduled on Wednesday,February 10, 1999 at 10:30 a.m. informed <br /> Mr. Taylor. <br /> Mr. Whritenour was directed to draft a memo of support on behalf of the <br /> Board of Selectmen, and cc the draft copy to the Cape Cod Commission. <br /> Back Road Offer: <br /> Correspondence was received from the Department of the Air Force, <br /> Headquarters of the Air Force Center for Environmental Excellence <br /> (AFCEE)dated December 9, 1998 relative to the paving of Back Road. <br /> Two alternatives were presented for the paving of Sandwich Road and <br /> Back Road. Mr. Taylor recommended the Selectmen consider the second <br /> option in which the AFCEE/MMR would contribute the sum of$100,000 <br /> to the Town of Mashpee towards the cost of re-paving the roads. The <br /> balance would be the responsibility of the town informed Mr. Taylor. <br /> Chapter 90 funds could be used this fiscal year to improve the condition of <br /> Back Road. Mr. Taylor requested the Board support a Town Meeting <br /> article for the road repair project proposal as outlined. <br />
