2
Board of Selectmen
Minutes
July 17, 2000
OLD BUSINESS:
Willowbend—Golf Expansion Project Proposal:
Motion made by Selectman Cahalane to place the above topic as an
agenda item of the Board of Selectmen.
Motion seconded by Selectman Taylor.
VOTE: Unanimous. 4-0.
Selectman Marsters stepped down for the above referenced discussion.
As a result of the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribal Council's initiative to re-
visit the Willowbend Golf expansion project proposal, Tom Fudala, the
Town Planner was present to request the Board consider the need for a
Town Meeting article for the potential trade of land.
It was noted that Willowbend has committed to design the golf course
expansion to meet the Town's environmental concerns. Initial
discussions have proposed a potential land trade in an effort to locate the
course from sensitive environmental areas. It was noted that there is a
need to demonstrate a clear benefit to the Town and appraisals are
required in the determination process.
Board of Selectmen member John Cahalane, the Town Planner, Assessor,
David Bailey, and an Open Space Committee member were deemed by the
Selectmen as appropriate entities to work out the specifics of the project
proposal.
Goal Setting:
The Board of Selectmen reviewed their goals as set forth in the 2000
Selectmen's Visioning Process. The Selectmen agreed to re-visit the issue
with the presence of a full Board. The following needs and goals were
incorporated and/or deleted from the memorandum of May 31, 2000.
The Most Critical Needs Facing Mashpee:
Environmental Needs:
Increase Conservation Land through the Land Bank
