' tt <br /> Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes <br /> August 7, 2000 <br /> APPOINTMENTS AND HEARINGS: <br /> BSC Group Cemetery Update: <br /> Preliminary estimates for the newly proposed Mashpee Cemetery were <br /> presented to the Board by the BSC Design Group and Cemetery <br /> Committee Chairman Fred Blythe. <br /> Discussion followed with respect to the conceptual plan and development <br /> thereof. Phase one of the project proposal considers the sum of$273,240 <br /> for site preparation, earthworks, drainage, roadways, water, landscape and <br /> site improvements such as an entrance gate, fencing and a committal <br /> shelter. Future equipment needs and operational rates are also considered <br /> in the feasibility proposal. Additional considerations include the <br /> development of rules and guidelines related to operational costs. <br /> Motion Made by Selectman Marsters to accept the conceptual plan as <br /> prepared by BSC Design, and move forward with an article for the. <br /> Town Meeting warrant to complete Phase 1 of the project proposal as <br /> outlined. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Cahalane. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. 5-0. <br /> Trust for Public Lands: <br /> Representatives from the Trust for Public Lands, a non-profit land <br /> conservation entity were present to request the Town assist with the <br /> preservation of the burial ground recently located in New Seabury. The <br /> site is referred to as the Mizzenmast burial site. <br /> The Trust requested the Board sponsor a Town Meeting article to <br /> appropriate the sum of$75,000 towards the purchase and restoration <br /> process. Discussion followed with respect to potential entities <br /> contributing towards this endeavor. <br /> Motion made by Selectman Cahalane to reserve a Town Meeting <br /> article for the October Warrant, and open discussions with the Tribal <br /> Council relative to funding. There is no commitment towards funding <br /> the requested appropriation at this time. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Marsters. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. 5-0. <br />
