5
Board of Selectmen
Minutes
February 5, 2001
APPOINTMENTS AND HEARINGS:
Public Hearing— Shellfish Regulations: (continued)
Motion made by Selectman Marsters to approve and adopt the
proposed and amended Shellfish Regulations for the Year 2001.
Motion seconded by Selectman Taylor.
VOTE: Unanimous. 4-0.
COMMUNICATIONS AND CORRESPONDENCE:
Veterans of Foreign Wars:
Ted Theis, Mashpee Veteran of Foreign Wars Post 5489 was present to
request the Selectmen grant a subterranean right-of-way for effluent from
the septic system to be installed at the VFW site on Route 28 at Delphic
Avenue, Mashpee.
It was noted that the lot is being situated in close proximity to a Town
well, requiring additional measures for septic treatment for the volume to
be generated by the building.
i
Cape & Islands Engineering has indicated that the design flow for the
system is limited to 440 gpd/acre without being treated or 660 gpd/acre
with treatment. The site is 2.66 acres. Using the proposed design flow,
5.45 acres of land is required.
The Selectmen agreed to consult the Town Planner with respect to this
regard. Mr. Fudala will be requested to further examine potential impacts
and site locations. A Town Meeting article will be considered to approve
the appropriated area for design flow. It was noted that the Town owns a
number of parcels in the area, and ball fields are being considered on the
area adjacent to the VFW site location.
1
