4 <br /> Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes <br /> May 13, 2002 <br /> APPOINTMENTS AND HEARINGS: <br /> Department of Public Works: (continued) <br /> Appointments to Recycling Committee: <br /> Correspondence was received from Catherine Laurent, Assistant DPW <br /> Director dated May 3, 2002 recommending the appointment of candidates <br /> for membership to the Recycling Committee. It was noted that the Board <br /> of Selectmen voted in February to re-establish the five-member Recycling <br /> Committee to work with the DPW on promoting and educating residents <br /> about recycling in Mashpee. <br /> Motion made by Selectman Cahalane to appoint the following three <br /> candidates to serve on the Recycling Committee; <br /> Charles Gasior Nikki Descoteaux <br /> Glenn Santos <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Marsters. <br /> • VOTE: Unanimous. 5-0. <br /> Selectman Leveille is the Selectman liaison to the Recycling Committee. <br /> The Board of Selectmen agreed to execute the contract for the hauling of <br /> recycling materials when it is prepared. <br /> The Selectmen suggested that information relative to the non-acceptance <br /> of demolition and brush material be disseminated to the public in a <br /> specific manner such as the recycling brochure. <br /> Earth Day/Cape Pride Clean-up: <br /> In conjunction with Earth Day and Cape Pride Week, a clean-up of several <br /> Town properties was undertaken with the assistance of volunteers from C- <br /> Map and the Cape Cod Convention Center. Through the efforts of <br /> volunteers, six areas were cleaned. Without the assistance of volunteers, <br /> the clean-up could not have been accomplished. <br /> The Selectmen agreed to thank those individuals who contributed their <br /> time in an upcoming public meeting. It was noted that the Town <br /> Administrator drafted letters of appreciation to the volunteers who <br /> participated on Earth Day, April 22d and Cape Pride Week, April 21 `— <br /> April 27`h on behalf of the Board of Selectmen. <br />
