4 Board of Selectmen Minutes May 13, 2002 APPOINTMENTS AND HEARINGS: Department of Public Works: (continued) Appointments to Recycling Committee: Correspondence was received from Catherine Laurent, Assistant DPW Director dated May 3, 2002 recommending the appointment of candidates for membership to the Recycling Committee. It was noted that the Board of Selectmen voted in February to re-establish the five-member Recycling Committee to work with the DPW on promoting and educating residents about recycling in Mashpee. Motion made by Selectman Cahalane to appoint the following three candidates to serve on the Recycling Committee; Charles Gasior Nikki Descoteaux Glenn Santos Motion seconded by Selectman Marsters. • VOTE: Unanimous. 5-0. Selectman Leveille is the Selectman liaison to the Recycling Committee. The Board of Selectmen agreed to execute the contract for the hauling of recycling materials when it is prepared. The Selectmen suggested that information relative to the non-acceptance of demolition and brush material be disseminated to the public in a specific manner such as the recycling brochure. Earth Day/Cape Pride Clean-up: In conjunction with Earth Day and Cape Pride Week, a clean-up of several Town properties was undertaken with the assistance of volunteers from C- Map and the Cape Cod Convention Center. Through the efforts of volunteers, six areas were cleaned. Without the assistance of volunteers, the clean-up could not have been accomplished. The Selectmen agreed to thank those individuals who contributed their time in an upcoming public meeting. It was noted that the Town Administrator drafted letters of appreciation to the volunteers who participated on Earth Day, April 22d and Cape Pride Week, April 21 `— April 27`h on behalf of the Board of Selectmen.
