6 <br /> Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes <br /> June 17, 2002 <br /> OLD BUSINESS: <br /> Approval and Execution of Senior Center Design Contract: <br /> A Standard Form of Agreement between the Owner and Architect for <br /> architectural services in connection with the design and construction of the <br /> new Mashpee Senior Center was presented to the Selectmen for approval. <br /> It was noted that Town Counsel has approved of the Agreement with the <br /> incorporated amendments to form <br /> Motion made by Selectman Marsters to approve AIA Document B141 <br /> between the Town of Mashpee and John Catlin& Associates <br /> Architect,Inc., d/b/a JCA Architects of Boston for architectural <br /> services associated to the new Senior Center. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Green. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. 5-0. <br /> APPOINTMENTS AND HEARINGS: <br /> • Affirmative Action Committee: <br /> Jan Strickland, Chairman of the Affirmative Action Committee updated <br /> the Selectmen on affirmative action which demonstrates compliance with <br /> the intent of equal employment activities. Affirmative Action includes the <br /> Town's commitment to base all actions relative to employment on <br /> individual merit; to prohibit discrimination; and to increase (as possible) <br /> the representation of minority groups and women in Town employment. <br /> Recent activities associated to the committee were discussed. Mr. <br /> Strickland read aloud a statement relative to equal opportunity and <br /> indicated that Mashpee has been designated as a Town with No Place for <br /> Hate community. <br /> Attaquin Park Beach Committee: <br /> David Pocknett, Chairman of the Attaquin Park Beach Committee updated <br /> the Board on recent activities. It was noted that a new playground was <br /> installed last year that has been of benefit to the community. Discussion <br /> followed with respect to handicap access to the beach. Mr. Pocknett <br /> indicated that he would obtain price quotations for a seasonal handicap <br /> pad to allow citizens with disabilities to access the water from the parking <br /> lot. The potential for use of county surplus was considered <br /> as a funding source. <br />
