3
Board of Selectmen
Minutes
September 23, 2002
APPOINTMENTS AND HEARINGS:
Finance Committee: (continued)
Article#2—FY03 Capital Budget Items: (continued)
Shellfish 4WD Vehicle—CIP Request: $30,000
BOS Recommend: $30,000—FC Recommend: 0
It was noted that the purchase of a vehicle for the Shellfish Department
has been a deferred CIP item for the past few years. Repairs to the present
vehicle are deemed costly.
In concern for the deterioration of the Shellfish vehicle in salt water
conditions, the Finance Committee recommended that an alternate/used
Town vehicle be earmarked for the Shellfish Department. The use of the
Fire Department's Jeep or Ford Explorer was suggested. It was also noted
that the DPW has a vehicle request contained in the FY04 Capital
• Improvement Program budget. The use of a used DPW vehicle for the
Shellfish Department strongly recommended.
The Department of Public Works would be requested to remit a list of
FY04 CIP vehicle requests for additional consideration. The need for a
new truck was agreed upon. The Board of Selectmen has the discretion to
make their decision on Town Meeting floor.
Article#4—Charter Commission:
Expenses/Consulting
BOS Recommend: $10,000—FC Recommend: $5,000
A total sum of$15,000 is requested. It was noted that $5,000 is contained
in the requested sum as mandated by State law requirements. The Finance
Committee agreed to further discuss the request with representatives of the
Charter Commission.
•
