4 <br /> Board of Selectmen <br /> • Minutes <br /> May 16,2005 <br /> COMMUNICATIONS AND CORRESPONDENCE: <br /> Correspondence from Mashpee Board of Assessors & Barnstable <br /> County Assessors Association: <br /> The Selectmen were in receipt of correspondence from the Assessing <br /> Department and Barnstable County Assessors Association dated May 5, <br /> 2005 regarding the removal of the stipend for the Board of Assessors. The <br /> Selectmen were encouraged to consider reinstating the stipend to the <br /> Mashpee Board of Assessors and to make available to them,the <br /> educational opportunities offered by the Barnstable County Assessors <br /> Association. (Letters of correspondence enclosed) <br /> The Selectmen indicated that they would conduct a"top to bottom" <br /> assessment to address any inequities and would favor a Town Meeting <br /> article to attempt to obtain voter support to reinstate the traditionally <br /> offered stipends to their boards of assessors. <br /> It was agreed that the Board would survey other communities and obtain <br /> • guidance from Town Counsel regarding the issue of stipends for elected <br /> officials. The matter will be placed on the Selectmen's agenda of June 6, <br /> 2005 for further review. <br /> NEW BUSINESS: <br /> Request of Willowbend Children's Charity—Waive Fees for Charity <br /> Event: <br /> Correspondence was received from The Willowbend Children's Charity <br /> dated May 4, 2005 requesting the Town waive the administrative and <br /> apparatus fees for the Mashpee Fire and Police needed the day of their <br /> charitable event on Monday,June 27, 2005. <br /> Over the past thirteen years, The Willowbend's Children's Charity has <br /> donated over$850,000 to organizations that benefit the children of <br /> Mashpee and Cotuit. <br /> Motion made by Selectman Cook to waive the administrative and <br /> apparatus fees for the Fire and Police on Monday,June 27,2005,the <br /> date of The Willowbend Pro-Am Children's Charity event. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Cahalane. <br /> • VOTE: Unanimous. 4-0. <br />
