12 <br />Board of Selectmen <br />Minutes <br />September 26, 2016 <br />ADDroval of annointment to the Cultural Council. MarvKate O'Brien and Nina Cocomazzi: <br />Letters of interest were received from MaryKate O'Brien and Nina Cocomazzi on August 27s' and <br />August 28, 2016 respectively to serve on the Mashpee Cultural Council. Additional communication was <br />received from Barbara Cotton; Cultural Council Chair dated September 13, 2016 recommending the <br />appointments. <br />Motion made by Selectman Sherman to appoint MaryKate O'Brien and Nina Cocomazzi to the <br />Cultural Council as recommended. <br />Motion seconded by Selectman O'Hara. <br />VOTE: Unanimous. 5-0. <br />Roll Call Vote: <br />Selectman Gottlieb, yes Selectman Cahalan, yes Selectman O'Hara, yes <br />Selectman Cotton, yes Selectman Sherman, yes Opposed, none <br />Accentance of bid recommendation for Baker Boat Ramn Dock/Float Replacement: <br />Correspondence was received from Catherine Laurent; Director of Public Works dated September 22, <br />2016 recommending an award of contract for the replacement of the dock/floats at the Edward A. Baker <br />Boat Ramp at Pirates Cove. <br />Three bids were received for the replacement of the wood dock/float system with a marine grade <br />aluminum structure. The low bidder of the project was Robert B. Our Co., Inc. This company was <br />deemed qualified, but not responsive to the thirty day construction schedule stipulated in the bid <br />documents. The completion date proposed by R. B. Our contracting was more than 60 days from award. <br />It is the recommendation of the DPW Director to award a contract to the middle bidder, Beacon Marine <br />Construction, LLC of Mashpee in the amount of $52,963.84. Beacon Marine recently completed a <br />similar project in Mashpee on time and under budget. The award for this contract would also be under <br />budget with a completion date no later than October 28, 2016. If the project is not awarded timely, the <br />project will be delayed until the spring of 2017. <br />Town Manager Rodney C. Collins indicated that Town Counsel is in agreement the low bidder is not <br />responsive and concurs with the decision of the DPW Director to reject the lowest bid for this project. <br />Motion made by Selectman Cahalan to award the bid for the Edward A. Baker Boat Ramp at <br />Pirates Cove to Beacon Marine Construction, LLC in the amount of $52,963.84 as recommended. <br />Motion seconded by Selectman Cotton. <br />VOTE: Unanimous. 5-0. <br />Roll Call Vote: <br />Selectman Gottlieb, yes Selectman Cahalan, yes Selectman O'Hara, yes <br />Selectman Cotton, yes Selectman Sherman, yes Opposed, none <br />
