Board of Selectmen <br />Minutes <br />May 2, 2016 <br />Article #5: CPC — Three -Year HousinL, Assistance Program: (continued) <br />It was noted the Town of Chatham runs a similar program and the Town of Nantucket manages a <br />successful housing assistance program under the direction of their local housing authority. <br />Leila Botsford, the Executive Director of the Mashpee Housing Authority was not in attendance to <br />further discuss this matter with the Board of Selectmen. It was noted the Finance Committee <br />previously voted 5-0 with two members absent to not recommend this article. <br />In reviewing the article it was disclosed the vote of the Finance Committee is incorrectly stated. <br />However, the vote is correct in the Finance Committee Report. The Finance Committee previously <br />voted 5-0 with two members absent to not recommend this article. <br />Motion made by Selectman O'Hara to not recommend Special Town Meeting Article #5. <br />Motion seconded by Selectman Gottlieb. <br />VOTE: 3-2. Motion carries to not recommend Article #5. <br />Roll Call Vote: <br />Selectman Cahalane, yes Selectman Sherman, no Selectman Gottlieb, yes <br />Selectman O'Hara, yes Selectman Cotton, no Opposed, (2) <br />The Finance Committee by a previous vote of 5-0 does not recommend Article #5. <br />Article #10: CPC —Disc Golf Proposal: <br />The goal of this project is to construct an 18 -hole Disc Golf Course at 156 Ashumet Road, Mashpee. <br />This is a low environmental impact sport designed for passive recreation in a woodland setting. The <br />sport is an emerging recreational activity intended to be open to all players and leagues. <br />There have been questions with respect to the site location as well as ongoing maintenance and <br />parking concerns. At this time, the project has been deemed premature and additional information <br />regarding this new sport is desired before it is considered to be implemented in the Town of <br />Mashpee. On the Cape, there is only one other location for disc golf. The field is located at the <br />Burgess Park in Marstons Mills. <br />Motion made by Selectman Gottlieb to recommend Indefinite Postponement of Article #10. <br />Motion seconded by Selectman Cahalane. <br />VOTE: 3-2. Motion carries to indefinitely postpone Article #10. <br />Roll Call Vote: <br />Selectman Cahalane, yes Selectman Sherman, yes Selectman Gottlieb, yes <br />Selectman O'Hara, no Selectman Cotton, no Opposed, (2) <br />In reviewing the article it was disclosed the vote of the Finance Committee is incorrectly stated. As it <br />appears in the Finance Committee Report, the Finance Committee previously voted 5-0 with two <br />members absent to not recommend this article. It was agreed that additional information is necessary. <br />
