263 Special Town Meeting -2- January 16, 1974 Article 6 (contd) being the Harriet Smith lot, so called. ACTION: Motion duly made and seconded that Article 6 be accepted as read. Unanimously voted. ARTICLE 7. To see if the Town will authorize the use of Lots 1 and 2 as shown on Assessor's Plan No. 67 as a site for the construction of a new municipal building. ' ACTION: Motion duly made and seconded that Article 7 be accepted as read. Unanimously voted. ARTICLE 8. To see if the Town will vote to amend its By -Laws by changing the date of the Annual Town Meeting from the first Monday in March to the second Monday in May of each year, and to change the time for the submission of Town Reports and Articles, and/or petitions, to the Selectmen for inclusion in the Warrant for the Annual Town Meeting of each year, to the second Monday of March of each year. ACTION: Motion duly made and seconded that Article 8 be accepted as read. The motion passed. ARTICLE 9. To see if the Town will vote to take from available funds the sum of $10,000.00 to enable the Assessors to attempt to ascertain by reasonable diligence the names of owners of real estate who are unknown so that the assessment of taxes may be made as to such real property in accordance with Massachusetts General Laws, Chaoter 59, Section II, as amended. ACTION: Motion duly made and seconded to amend the article to read 5,000.00, and to accept the article as amended. Unanimously .' voted. ARTICLE 10. To see if the Town will vote to authorize the Selectmen to lease a certain parcel of Town -owned land at a nominal annual rent of $1.00 for use by the Mashpee Senior Citizens Council and building a Mashpee Senior Citizens Center which is badly needed by elder descendents and other senior citizens of Mashpee, who represent over 20 percent, or one-fifth, of Mashpee's total population. ACTION: Amended to read: To see if the Town will vote to authorize the Selectmen to lease a certain parcel of Town -owned land at a nominal annual rent of $1.00 for use by the Mashpee Senior Citizens Council. Motion duly made and seconded to accept the article as amended. Unanimously voted. ARTICLE 11. To see if the Town will vote to transfer the sum of $2,000.00 from the Firefighters Salary Account to the Wage Account or take any other action thereon. Motion duly made and seconded to transfer the sum of $2,000.00. Unanimously voted. ARTICLE 12. To see if the Town will vote to take from available funds the sum of $2,000..00 to augment the salary of the Public Prosecutor, said amount to be expended in equal monthly amounts before June 30, 1974, or take any other action thereon. ACTION: Motion duly made and seconded to table Article 12. Unanimously voted. ARTICLE 13• To see if the Town will vote to authorize the appoint - merit of two additional police officers and to take from available funds the sum of $6,000.00, said sum to represent the salaries of the appointees from March 1', 1974, to June 30, 1974, or take any other action thereon. ACTION: Motion duly made and seconded to authorize the appointments and take from available funds the sum of $6,000.00 to represent their salaries. The motion passed.
