263 <br />Special Town Meeting -2- January 16, 1974 <br />Article 6 (contd) <br />being the Harriet Smith lot, so called. <br />ACTION: Motion duly made and seconded that Article 6 be accepted <br />as read. Unanimously voted. <br />ARTICLE 7. To see if the Town will authorize the use of Lots 1 and 2 <br />as shown on Assessor's Plan No. 67 as a site for the construction of <br />a new municipal building. <br />' ACTION: Motion duly made and seconded that Article 7 be accepted <br />as read. Unanimously voted. <br />ARTICLE 8. To see if the Town will vote to amend its By -Laws <br />by changing the date of the Annual Town Meeting from the first <br />Monday in March to the second Monday in May of each year, and to <br />change the time for the submission of Town Reports and Articles, <br />and/or petitions, to the Selectmen for inclusion in the Warrant <br />for the Annual Town Meeting of each year, to the second Monday of <br />March of each year. <br />ACTION: Motion duly made and seconded that Article 8 be accepted <br />as read. The motion passed. <br />ARTICLE 9. To see if the Town will vote to take from available funds <br />the sum of $10,000.00 to enable the Assessors to attempt to ascertain <br />by reasonable diligence the names of owners of real estate who are <br />unknown so that the assessment of taxes may be made as to such real <br />property in accordance with Massachusetts General Laws, Chaoter 59, <br />Section II, as amended. <br />ACTION: Motion duly made and seconded to amend the article to <br />read 5,000.00, and to accept the article as amended. Unanimously <br />.' voted. <br />ARTICLE 10. To see if the Town will vote to authorize the Selectmen <br />to lease a certain parcel of Town -owned land at a nominal annual <br />rent of $1.00 for use by the Mashpee Senior Citizens Council and <br />building a Mashpee Senior Citizens Center which is badly needed by <br />elder descendents and other senior citizens of Mashpee, who represent <br />over 20 percent, or one-fifth, of Mashpee's total population. <br />ACTION: Amended to read: To see if the Town will vote to authorize <br />the Selectmen to lease a certain parcel of Town -owned land at a <br />nominal annual rent of $1.00 for use by the Mashpee Senior Citizens <br />Council. <br />Motion duly made and seconded to accept the article as amended. <br />Unanimously voted. <br />ARTICLE 11. To see if the Town will vote to transfer the sum of <br />$2,000.00 from the Firefighters Salary Account to the Wage Account <br />or take any other action thereon. <br />Motion duly made and seconded to transfer the sum of $2,000.00. <br />Unanimously voted. <br />ARTICLE 12. To see if the Town will vote to take from available <br />funds the sum of $2,000..00 to augment the salary of the Public <br />Prosecutor, said amount to be expended in equal monthly amounts <br />before June 30, 1974, or take any other action thereon. <br />ACTION: Motion duly made and seconded to table Article 12. <br />Unanimously voted. <br />ARTICLE 13• To see if the Town will vote to authorize the appoint - <br />merit of two additional police officers and to take from available <br />funds the sum of $6,000.00, said sum to represent the salaries of the <br />appointees from March 1', 1974, to June 30, 1974, or take any other <br />action thereon. <br />ACTION: Motion duly made and seconded to authorize the appointments <br />and take from available funds the sum of $6,000.00 to represent <br />their salaries. The motion passed. <br />
