-11- <br />103rd. ANNUAL TOWN MEETING WARRANT <br />ARTICLE 33 (contd) <br />1 - 12. OBJECTIVES <br />The fundamental objective is three fold: <br />1. To provide maximum protection to the public through the orderly <br />control of traffic moving onto and from a highway. <br />.2. To provide a uniform practice in the design and construction of <br />entrances and exits. <br />' 3. To provide the necessary drainage. <br />The following requirements are applicable to all commercial and <br />industrial establishments, service areas and private residences having <br />access'to and or through the right-of-way of a Town Highway, insofar <br />as the requirements for drainage, geometric, design, sighing, t;rpe�and <br />quality of workmanship, material used, and the work performed in the <br />areas providing ingress and egress to said property are concerned. <br />Any owner of abutting property desiring to gain access to a town <br />highway shall do so only in strict addordance with the provisions of <br />a permit issued by the Department. <br />Written application must be made to secure such a permit from the <br />Department thr•ought the Highway Surveyor having jurisdiction in the <br />area. <br />Location of the Highway Surveyor's Office: Highway Dept., Meet- <br />inghouse Rd., Mashpee, Mk 02649 <br />1 - 3 APPLICATIONS <br />Any owner of property abutting Town Highways shall, before <br />beginning any construction, make written applications to the Highway <br />Surveyor having jurisdiction in this area. Submitted by Highway Dept. <br />ACTION: ACCEPTED AS AMENDED. UNANIMOUSLY. <br />ARTICLE 34. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate <br />or take from available funds the sum of $12,938 to be transferred to <br />the Highway Dept. Full, -Time Men Salary's Account for salaries for two <br />full-time equipment operators or take any other action thereon. Sub- <br />mitted by Highway Department. <br />ACTION: Motion made and accepted as amended to read: To see if the <br />Town will vote to raise and appropriate the sum of $12,647 to be trans- <br />ferred to the Highway Dept. Salary's Account for salaries for two full- <br />time equipment skilled laborers." So voted. <br />ARTICLE 35. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate or <br />take from available funds, a sum of money to purchase a four-wheel <br />drive 3/4 -ton pickup truck with a skid mounted tank and pump and other <br />necessary emergency equipment. Submitted by Fire Dept. <br />ACTION: Motion made and seconded as amended to read: Raise and <br />appropriate $9,996.00. So voted. <br />ARTICLE 36. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate <br />to take from available funds a sum of money for the purchase of hand- <br />held portable transceiver for the Fire Dept. Submitted by Fire Dept. <br />ACTION: Motion made and seconded as amended to read: Raise and <br />appropriate $670.00. So voted. <br />ARTICLE 37. To see if the Town will vote to hire four (4) additional <br />'Fire Fighters for the Fire Dept., and further to appropriate a sum <br />of money sufficient to pay their salaries according to the Personnel <br />Board Salary 'Schedule. Submitted by Fire Dept. <br />ACTION: Moved and seconded to vote to hire 2 additional fire fighters <br />as recommended by the Personnel Board and to appropriate $14,268. <br />VOTE DID NOT CARRY AMENDED: Motion made and seconded that the Town <br />vote to hire 4 additional firefighters for $28,536. So Voted. <br />
