418 <br />TOWN OF MASHPEE <br />ANNUAL TOWN MEETING WARRANT <br />May 1, 1978 <br />THE COMMONWEALTH OF MASSACHUSETTS <br />Barnstable, ss: <br />To the Constable of the Town of Mashpee Greetings: <br />In the name of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, you are <br />hereby directed to notify and warn the inhabitants of the Town <br />of Mashpee, who are qualified to vote in the elections, to meet <br />at Queen of All Saints Church, Great Neck Road, Mashpee, on Mon- <br />day, the first day of May, 1978, at seven o'clock p.m., for the <br />following purposes: <br />To act on the Articles contained in the Warrant. To meet <br />at the Town Hall the following Saturday, May 6, 1978, to bring <br />in their votes for the election of the following officers: <br />One Selectman for three years <br />One Assessor for three years <br />One Town Clerk for three years <br />One Planning Board member for five years <br />Three Finance Committee members for three years <br />Three Library Trustees for three years <br />Two School Committee members for three years <br />One Board of Health member for three years <br />The polls will be open at 10:00 o'clock, a.m. and will be <br />closed at 8:00 o'clock, p.m. <br />Moderator Frank Leonardi opened the meeting at 8:40 p.m., <br />preceded by a Special Town Meeting. A motion had been made and <br />seconded to adjourn the Annual Town Meeting until after the <br />Special Town Meeting. Motion carried. <br />A quorum of 260 was present. Tellers were: Mary Potter, <br />Eleanor Thaxton, Marian Folkins, Grace Maddox, Alexis Hanson, <br />Nancy Cannata. <br />ARTICLE 1. To choose all necessary Town Officials who are not <br />elected under the Australian Ballot System: <br />Burial Agent <br />Herring Warden <br />ACTION: Motion made and seconded that Oliver Pocknett be <br />nominated for Burial Agent. Motion carried. Oliver Pocknett is <br />the Burial Agent. <br />Nominated for Herring Warden were: Robert Courtemanche and , <br />Vernon Pocknett. The vote was Robert Courtemanche -- 238, and <br />Vernon Pocknett -- 36. Robert Courtemanche was elected. <br />ARTICLE 2. To see if the Town will vote to accept the Town <br />Officers' Reports or take any other action thereon. <br />ACTION: Motion made and seconded that the Town accept the <br />Town Reports. Motion carried. <br />ARTICLE 3. To see if the Town will hear and act upon::the reports <br />
