} -n-
Mr. Hennigan, cont. : LL
that the septic systems proposed must be installed in accordance with Title V of the
Commonwealth of Massachusetts so that there will be no threat to the environment of the
surrounding area,
Barbara: Do you have a new set of plans?
Mr. Hennigan: They were submitted some time ago. The only difference really is in the
re-location of one system advised to be changed by DEQE and the reason they advised it A
Is very sensible. (Referring to the plan) This necessitated a change by the Board of
Health. This is the lot on the North side. Originally, in the old topo we had the
system north of the building but it was so close to the lot that it would encroach the
10 foot limit. Not so much the systems themselves. They would have been in the 101-foot
limit but the supernatants from the leaching system themselves would pass through the
biomass and .encroach within the 10 foot limit. The DEQE had advised the Board of Health
then I got involved in it, to change the location which we did. And as we already had
four test pit sites and, incidentally, a test pit site does not necessarily mean that the
leaching area should be in the test pit site. So as a result, when we move one system
we had to move the other in order to have the 100 foot minimum distance between the water
and the system.
Pauline: When we went down with DEQE, they found a test pit here that wasn't on either
one of the maps.
Mr. Hennigan. The test pit that they are referring to (and Charlie brought this out at
the last meeting and I didn't catch it until after the meeting), I thought he was refer-
ring to a hole dug on somebody elses property. There were two holes in front. These were
probes to find the location of the existing cesspool, One of' them was just over the new
defined lot line and there were two holes and we: were probing; We were looking for the
existing systems. I want to make that clear. It didn't register until after the meeting,
Charlie. I thought you were referring to either the Weisman lot or the Peck lot. Shows
on the plan where they were probing. DEQE had recommended these two changes that I told
you about and you have the revised topo there and if you don't I have other copies of it
right here. As also stated, the Shellfish Warden has indicated that it should not pose
any threats in the surrounding area and the Board of Health has already approved.
Barbara: On this side, you don't show any water.
Mr. Hennigan: Yes, we do. The original drawing shows it of the whole plot. Here it is.
Barbara: This is the one we are looking at. This is the one you are submitting.
Mr. Hennigan: This has been submitted. And this one is the original of the two lots of
the whole piece and it shows the water on both sides.
Barbara: Well, my question is with this septic system that you are going to put in, how
far are you from this water?
Mr. Hennigans We will be within 60 feet. Or 50 feet.
George Benways Marsh or water?
Mr. Hennigan: Intertidal areas.
Barbara: At high tide that is pretty wet.
