-3-
Dorothy: That is not our jurisdiction -- but it is certainly something to be worried
about. We cannot do anything about that. It is up to the Board of Selectmen.
Charles: Is there any way that you can bring this in other than the road.
Mr. Paparella: I doubt it. We have to get a piece of equipment in there too to do the
work, which I think is the tougher problem.
Pauline: There has been equipment going over there back and forth according to Mr.
Hollander.
Charles: I understand that the so-called rating of the bridge, although not official, is
set somewhere around 6 tons or 8 tons.
Mrs. White: Six tons.
Mr. Paparella: There must have been quite a few trucks coming across there when all the
houses were built and I would think that they weigh a lot more than what we are talking
about.
Barbara: That is what caused part of the damage.
Mr. Paparella: To the top. The top is in good shape now.
Pauline: That was re-done last winter.
Mr. Paparella: The structure of the bridge should be able to hold what we are talking
about.
Charles: I would think that we would be within our rights to make just that statement
within the Order of Conditions that any damage that is created on that bridge or on the
road which approaches to that bridge must be the responsibility of those who are requiring
this work and that it be immediately repaired.
Pauline: Does anybody have any questions pertaining to this?
Barbara: When they bring the 2 - 4 ton stones, is there anyway that they could bring in
a couple at a time?
Mr. Paparella: Mr. Bonito told me that he would bring them across in small loads.
Charles: There is no official rating for that bridge.
Mr. Conant: George Benway has accepted the fact that six tons is the legal limit. He
spoke to me just this morning about it.
Pauline: They could bring a crane in by barge almost.
Charles: I don't quite see how they would get the depth of water.
Pauline: Let's take this under advisement and get some more input. Does anybody here in
the audience have anyother input?
Mrs. Conant: Recalls that there was work done in there several years ago in which the
person doing the work saw to it that the smaller size manufactured stones were brought in.
He was concerned about the bridge. They used a small truck and small stones.
Mr. Paparella: I don't think 1t is the size of the rock. I. think it is how many you take
across at a time.
